Finally got round to updating and playing Elite after months off. Dismayed to find the faces of every station NPC and avatar covered in brown patches and swathes of jagged dark coloring. Black NPCs have the same problem in white. Basically everyone looks badly burned, or as if they're suffering from some dreadful skin disease. Same goes for my commander creator. Anyone else been lucky enough to have this?

For me, my cool looking rock chick turned into a muppet who forgot to put her teeth in, in the morning. Basically, the NPC characters have been re-modled due to the implementation of the Holo-Me

I had this to start with but then updated graphics card drivers and it went away. May not be same issue but worth a try.
If the NPC pics represent a general cut of the British population I am all for Brexit. Fast.

Most of the changes are surface details, but in some cases the NPCs have had their faces completely re-shaped. That's what happened to my best crew mate. Now her face looks swollen and awful, her nose is huge, and her eyes are just plain creepy.
I can't bring myself to fire her, so I just take her out in my Beluga, assuming that at some point it'll be blown to smithereens.

I had the same issue. Had to upgrade my graphics drivers. Once finished, it looks like this:
If you are experiencing picture #1, update them graphics drivers.
