Ship Integrity = 11% Paintwork = 11%

Bon jour, fellow explorers.

At Jacques Station doing some repairs and alterations after a jaunt to Sagittarius A* and I find the my Ships Integrity is down to 11% which matches my paintwork (also 11%). This begs the following questions.

Is Ship Integrity really affected by paint?
Will I blow up when I reach 0%?
How can I tell how bad things when out in the black?
Are the plans to allow us to repair it on passage?

Coincidence.

Integrity is unrelated to paint and will not blow your ship up.

Your integrity is a simple creeping max HP reduction. As integrity decreases, you have less effective max health even when hull is repaired. I recall the figure to be about a third less max HP when integrity is 0% but as I repair it religiously for combat, I have no specifics.

No, other way around. Both are affected by super cruise.

No.

No. Fixing integrity requires a full fledged repair station. Think of taking the entire thing apart to replace defective bulkheads or bend them back into shape.

LOL. Yes, looking at my paint!

Well it's your hull ;) Your hull will take damage even during exploration, but as emergency stops/heat damage etc. seem to ignore integrity in favour of proportional damage, I can only see it making a difference to an explorer if you hit a planet surface hard enough to knock shields out and damage HP.

Ah, I'm am prone to planet thumping. Especially after a sherbert or two!

So am I, which is partially why my second serious attempt at exploration is in an iCutter sporting over 1.5k mj shield.

"Serious" might be pushing it but I am still not trying to strangle myself, so I have to be doing something better than my first run...

If you're at 0% intergrity your actuall hull percentage at 100% will equal 70%.
It doesn't affect anything other than that, so unless you're really worried about your hull i wouldn't repair it.

I think of it as an inverse damage multiplier.
If your integrity is at 100% and you take 100 points of damage it's applied at 1 to 1
If your integrity is at 50% and you take 100 points of damage it's applied with a multiplier, so you end up with something more than 100 points of damage. Maybe 110 or 150.

If you don't take any damage, it doesn't matter at all.

I'm very curious what my integrity is at now. I repaired it at Jaques about 8 or 9 months ago and haven't been to a station since.
I frequently supercruise to scan companion stars that are 100-500Kls away so my paint is completely trashed.

How many NPC crew will you give 12% of your exploration bounty to ? :D

Pfft screw that, I sell all my NPC crew before any serious money making and just buy a new one when I need 'em.

Maybe one day I'll work up a crewmate from baby to Elite but until then, they're strictly disposable unless they stop taking money while inactive.
