General / Off-Topic The coming French elections

Why not say radicalized guys?
Wifebeaters?
Freedomhaters? (they obviously hate their own freedom as much as everyone else's, or they would not submit to those arbitrary rulesets set by some old geesers 1500 years ago)

wife beaters and freedom haters are the worst kind, honestly they are!!

I agree that most Muslims are as you say, nice, normal individuals, but it only takes a vocal and violent minority to make a terrible existence, do you really thing most Saudis and Afghans like their terror states ? No, but the extremist minority have the power, name a western country with a Christian majority that is as bad as Saudi Arabia, the closest you come is Ireland or the United States, but they are nowhere near as bad because less people in that religion take it seriously, Islam is about submission the same as Christianity during the crusades, trouble is Islam still behaves as Christianity did then.

You should watch Four Lions.

What on Earth does it mean then? Like I've said, Islam is not some contagious meme that is sweeping across Europe. Hence, the "danger from Islam" must mean that you consider people of the Muslim faith to be inherently more dangerous than those of a Christian faith.

Seriously, there seems to be some muddled thinking here. What exactly is the danger? Terrorism? Perpetrated by refugees?

Terrorism is a fringe threat. It's upsetting, but the actual damages and loss of life is tiny. It's honestly a distraction from much bigger problems and threats facing Europe (and the rest of humanity). Terrorism and violence from asylum seekers is a miniscule threat, and one that has been stoked into hysteria. That hysteria is making it so that these vulnerable people are being denied shelter, and deported into unsafe countries.

We should be better than this. It's no different than the hysteria over wolves here in the Nordics. Norway has less than 100 wolves, Finland has less than 300. This is well blow what is required for a sustainable population, but hunters who don't want any of their game eaten by wolves are stoking hysteria in the press, and poaching the remaining ones illegally. "Think of the children!" and "The danger is unacceptable!". Le sigh...

Unless you're the victim? then I would say it's a very major threat. Anyhow I know we should just learn to live with it, that's why I love my right to carry a firearm :D

Yes, but you only get to shoot them on your own property. Make sure you buy up all the surrounding lands....

Sure, like having oversized pineapples fall on your head. It is a very major threat when you are a victim of it. No reason for a country to go into full panick mode though. :D

Never go full panic :O just carry a gun those murderous pineapples :D

You are six times more likely to die from lightning strikes as you are terrorism.

If one really is cowed by terrorism one has far bigger issues to address.

So is getting attacked by a horny moose in rutting season, choking on a fish bone or getting struck by lightning. Why is it that some people are so unable to understand statistics?

Either that, or they do actually understand, and have ulterior motives to stoking up people's fear of "scaary mooslambs!"

:D that would be a bummer! :O I mean do he wear a condom?
Statistic can be used like the devil reads the bible, it's just an indicator not the true gospel.

BTW I'm not promotion terrorism fear here, I was just pointing out that if you're on the receiving end it's not minor.

Russian State media "slamming" France as undemocratic:
https://deutsch.rt.com/europa/50303-frankreich-pest-und-cholera-in/

France .. they bought a candidate for 7 million Euro and you didn't elect it. What's wrong with you? You no understand democracy? :D :D

Next: Turkey "the will of the people"

LULZ! When not their puppet in the velvet chair, it's not democracy. There is only democracy, when they succesfully installed someone like Assad, or janukovich. I don't mention le Pain because she is below notice, and W/O Russia, she do what she really is. A <bleep>

Well, interesting (or boring) - the "pest and cholera" slogan was from the far left for both candidates.
Of course they have to put a picture of Macron and Hollande there (instead of madame) and throw in a little "post democratic" - and that coming from Russian State media.

And of course it's on the german version and in german and not at all in preparation of the coming german elections.

It's just ... [haha]

I said this a while ago in another thread that found itself running off topic and revolving around the same 'they are different and so we are afraid of them' arguments.

The Four Lions is a very funny British film and every one should see it at least once. When I first started watching it; I was thinking, they cannot be serious, but then after a while, I could not stop laughing.

Germany does not have "illusions" about the current EU.

+1 for Germany. I have always said that Germany is a great country

that in the countryside, especially the post-industrial countryside, there is a lot of worry and dissatisfaction. Those factory jobs are not coming back no matter what, so what is important is providing the people alternatives.

Yes and there is also a problem of labor flexibility which is not really in the French spirit

That's a shame, I really had hoped that Le Pen had a chance. So it will be another five years of islamization for poor France... more than enough time for a significant portion of the electorate to wake up and smell the coffee.

Uninhibited France here

:D

Just a quick word on Islam and terror as a response to those who disagree with my stance (relevant to topic as secularism and Islam were big parts of the French election) i just want to say that i agree that there are bigger problems, including the run away corruption of corporations and establishment politics, and the existential threat of climate change, i'm merely saying that ignoring the religious issues and branding everyone racist does not serve democracy well at all. I judge individuals based on their actions and words , not on their beliefs. The fact that i regard a religious ideology as something to criticise and oppose does not make me a racist, there is no race issue, at least not for me. So please don't assume that there is a racial element to my opposition to what i consider to be a backward ideology.
