Star Clusters

Afternoon

Does anyone know if there is a list of known star clusters in the E D Galaxy anywhere, please?

Right now, I am definitely flying through something that looks and feels like a cluster.

Thanks, Cmdr. I did check there but nothing came up. If not showing on the EDSM map, can I assume it is a new find and submit it as a POI?

Sorry for noob-like questions! I rarely expect to discover anything!

Kind regards

I'm sure you can submit it as a new POI if it's not already listed.
Have you mapped it out already? Were the stars there already tagged? If they were undiscovered, I'd wait until I sold the data and got my tag on them.
I'm guessing mostly type B and/or Type A stars? I've never see a type O cluster that large.

You can see the extent of the cluster if you filter for the star type on the galmap. When I see what looks like a cluster, I'll check the map and filter for type O or type B or type A stars and look for a grouping of stars in that direction.

It's Classes As and (mainly ) and all of a similar age...which makes me think it qualifies as a cluster. No tags as yet. Although, to me tags on EDSM are as valid as a "First Discovered" tag in-game.

I will map it out this evening and in the absence of any contrary opinions on here, have a go at a submission. Thanks for your thoughts, Cmdr.

[EDIT: okay mapping it out...flying around its perimeter? Find its edges, I guess. However, any guidance anyone can give would be welcome...again, I feel like such a noob!]

Kind regards

What is the sector you are in? If all the stars are named NGC <something>, it's a cluster. There are also other prefixes common to clusters. Do some googling and you should be able to find out if you're in a cluster area.

By mapping it out I mean uploading the data for each star to EDSM.
That would mean visiting many/most/all stars in the cluster using ED Discovery or EDMC to send system coordinates to EDDN/EDSM.
I don't think you can submit to EDSM if they don't have it (at least some of the stars) in the database.

Note any unique or interesting systems or features you find in the cluster. If you plan to submit it as a POI it helps to have a description to make it interesting.

Thanks, Cmdr. Nothing that looks like a catalogue-name in the sector/system name. It's just a regular procedurally-generated sector name. Nothing on Google, either.
