There were 3 of these in total. I don't think it was a glitch.

Seen 3 of them now. Seems to repeat but not every time. I am starting to count out the glitch as option. I stand this as a finding.

The occurence must be a whole lot higher to tell a pattern. The UA's being some sort of colony ship roaming space searching for candidate planets seems a good theory in this case though. Where did you find them?

You took a glitch where the artifact is oriented vertically and half of it clips through the terrain and went into "alien egg about to hatch" territory. There is absolutely no evidence this is a noteworthy find at all - but if you can prove me wrong, by all means; at the very least, further testing is needed to even have a hypothesis, let alone prove it.
