General / Off-Topic King Arthur movie

This thing is on course to become one of the biggest box office flops in a long time, and I have to say it looks like it deserves to fail. It seems like we have a medieval answer to Battlefield Earth on our hands. The way this clip was directed and cut makes it almost comical.

And what the hell?! Is that David Beckham with a sword?!

They showed the clips with David Beckham in on the BBC News last week. He should not bother making space on a shelf for an Oscar for this role. If it represents the general standard of the film I can understand why people aren't going to see it. I kind of see Guy Ritchie as the new Michael Winner, though I am not sure if that is more of a disservice to the late Mr Winner.

He's the British Uwe Boll.

What's this thing he has about using footballers and not actors?

I saw Michael Winner in a little village in the Scottish Highlands many years ago. He was lost. He spent ages driving around this little village, stopping repeatedly at the only roundabout and frowning down roads. He eventually asked a passing local for directions (I'd been going to go over and offer to help if he came back to the same spot again, although I'm not a native of that village).

I thought it was pretty funny that I was watching a director who quite clearly had no sense of direction.

I have a picture of that very event...

Or is it more Brit trashing have you seen it. It will do well in China they love Beckham.

The next time I see Guy Richie and Beckham. I live near them Ill point it out. Next Richie film is Aladin.

I look forward to watching your film.

Warner Brothers signed off on it. So look at studio. Its aimed at 12 year old boys.

Trailer spoil the film Out of context reveals spoil the film.

Cannes is on now so look at those films.

Some auteur took a well respected and well known character and story and "updated it with their own vision". Result: Epic Fail.

Comic Book movies already did that with the same result.

Why is this Brit bashing?

Britain has some great movie directors (Danny Boyle, Ridley Scott) as well as average ones (Chris Nolan, Alfred Hitchcock).

Guy Ritchie is pretty bloody awful. You can tell this from watching his movies. Why would any competent director shun actual actors and instead turn to footballers, boxers or past-their-sell-by-date popstars?

Why are the Kardashian and TOWIE STILL ON tv ? This film will do well in China who are spending ££ and like Beckham. WB signed of on this. Film is a collaborative effort. What about Pirates of Caribbean?

Real films without gimmicks is not what Hollywood is about.

Looked awful and gave it a wide berth. Though I did enjoy Anne Hathaway, (I know, spit) in 'Colossal' 2016, today, interesting stuff and quite charming.
