PS4 E.D. trailer

Mining in Elite is rather straight forward but in order to earn a decent profit you have to know where and what to mine as well as where to sell it.

There is an Engineer (Selene Jean [She works on Armor]) who requires you to mine 500 Tonnes of ore in order to receive an invite then you need to hand over 10 units of Painite before you can use her services.

because who wants to be a miner, so much hard work for little to no gain. most main on pc/xb1 usually barely keep there head above water, plus nearly every other job makes money faster

Its not all about the money, mining can be very relaxing with good music and cold one ( or hot ) on the side !
I have recieved triple Elite and mining is about the only thing I do now, noting else interests me anymore.

Scavenging shipwrecks in warzones would be a great job too, after obtaining a special permit. Maybe a good idea to think about by FDev.

Hands up here, I'm on the PC side of the game, probably (for ED) top 2% high end PC with VR (not trying to boast, just so you know I've got VR and done well it's astonishing - I think PSVR may beat the rest as well).

If I'm honest I keep reading the console threads for the positive posting, PS4 especially (dangerous discussions can be a depressing place!).

Anyway if you get PSVR with Elite (eventually) then forget fastest routes to cash, forget constantly trying to source Painite, forget the hourly rate, forget choosing profit, choose to choose something else. Choose ice! :)

Go spend some quality time just meandering round an ice asteroid planetary ring, honest it's not for profit. My folks used to drive us as kids to some beauty spot and sit in the car looking at it. I hated it then but now, well, mining, it's kinda just like that but I appreciate it so much more. Age huh!

i agree that most people want to get to the top fast, for me its not the destination but the journey that matters. once i get my DBX i will be exploring every in of the galaxy just site seeing not for profit but because i want to be amazed

Same here. I would like to circumference the galaxy, not going to the centre, like most explorers do. Seeing the sights, landing on exotic planets just to admire their beauty.

i wouldn't mind seeing what is on the other side of a sector of space called drymen, just seems not many people go out that way

My father looked at the Running Man Nebula in the galaxy map and it soft crashed his game for a bit. Be careful if you head that way.

oh i intend to be careful, but when i look at the galaxy maps and stuff, it seems to me most pilots follow the same path as everyone. no true explorer would go to the same places as others, they would go where other people fear to tread. hence the reason i want to explore the areas no one has been before

I can't find the thread, but there was one CMDR who was live streaming a circumnavigation of the galaxy in a Sidewinder, just to prove it could be done.

In my (PC) explorations, I've usually down off the galactic plane a couple hundred light years fairly early on in the trip. That seems to avoid the most commonly travelled routes.
