Ship Builds & Load Outs Kinetic turret only shoot at damage fall off range??

It's my first time to try out multi-cannon and frag-cannon turrets and I realize they don't shoot at maximum rage, but only their damage fall off range, eg. 2km without engineered for multi-canon, 500m for frag-cannon, especially for frag-cannon, does anyone knows if it can be adjusted??? especially for frag-cannon I need it to be at least 1km for certain reason.... And actually I don't know if it's also like that for thermal weapon turrets.
 
MC's have a long range mod http://en.ed-board.net/?m=engineer.modification&n=multi-cannon-long-range-weapon however frag cannons don't, as to laser turrets they'll start firing at maximum range (3000 m) although they won't be doing much damage at that distance, all the laser types have long range mods but this will increase mass and energy draw.

TBH my experience of frag cannons is that although they currently have increased max range (compared to initial release) the jitter and fragment dispersion makes them fairly ineffective under 500m and unless you have a special effect like incendiary rounds they wont do much shield damage.

Thanks, honestly I want to use screening ammo to make this turret become a self defence against bombers... but not sure if 500m is good enough to make mines blow up before it hits me tho...

First time using forum, sorry for double replied Iol hope there is an option in the future to adjust that to at least have some controll over turrets
