Very glad the core game is getting some love.

I'd say a smaller polished game will almost always beat the kitchen sink. Let's re-evaluate that "later this year" thenI personally think it's a strong decision and one that the community will truly appreciate (on the most part).
This sounds great, FD are making the right decision to use a lot of the next season to add some more layers to existing gameplay. There have been some big extensions to the game in the last 18 months, and they all need some refinement to take the game to the next level. I personally am happy to sacrifice a season of major extensions for a season of putting together some great gameplay.
We’re happy to be able to confirm that the next major updates following 2.4 will focus on core gameplay, existing features, quality of life and other improvements! We’re delighted to be investing a considerable amount of development and effort into making the core gameplay experience even better for our fantastic community or players.
That's correct.
Glad to see people positive about the news though!
I like this idea don't get me wrong but I'm worried that we're getting a mechanic upon a mechanic that's a total grind and a thing to use.
Same time it's about time that we're getting a narrative in the game story missions are not an option but an obligation !
So it's 2.4 elite dangerous remasteredMajor updates on core gameplay???!! I really hope this means you are, in a sense, going back to the drawing board to figure out what you want the player experience to be like.
Right now the core experience lacks something. I really want my pilot to have a story worth telling. I want each system I visit to have a story worth telling too, and to be a part of that story. I want the events of that story to have a real effect on the gameplay opportunities in that system. I hope that there is a big focus on NPCs and Missions, and the systems that let us interact with them to make this possible.
Missions should be stories, or parts of stories that we can dig deeper into if we want to. I don't care if procedurally generated stories feel a bit awkward, they could add so much.
