Haha, yeah, thanks guys. The company I work for had a clear-out (their first clear-out in 40 years) and they had amassed a room full of old computers including an IBM model 1 computer, complete. Someone snapped it up quick though but they still had several keyboards including a spare series 1 & 2 which I took home, unfortunately I couldn't get the series 1 to work. The key press on the model 2 has a beautiful metallic clicking sound and feeling that just pops under your fingers. Its only fault, the minus key on the num pad does not work.
While the IBM model 2 key press is beautiful the model 1 was simply spectacular! It had an even more metallic sounding key press and snappiness to it. I sometimes held it close to my ear and gently pushed the palm of my hand down on the keys just to listen to that sweet sweet crunch.
I'd highly recommend the IBM keyboards to anyone. All you need is a thing plugged into a thing and you're good to go. There is a company in the states however that bought the original IBM buckling spring keyboard patent and now make them brand new with USB connection for around £100. Be jealous no longer!!
Mechanical keyboards of gamers are the cream of keyboards. But noisy
