Titles are a weird thing. I like the idea of having the gendered options in the game, but that automatically raises another spectre - gender equality.
A queen is obviously not as high ranking as a king. I say this with confidence, because no monarchy has a female monarch married to a king, whereas there are plenty of monarchies with male monarchs married to a queen. As an example the Queen of England is married to Prince Philip, not King Philip, the Queen of Denmark is married to Prince Henrik, not King Henrik.
I don't agree with it, and it's stupid, but that's how it is in the real world, and that affects how people think about these kinds of titles.
As such, you're either going to end up with some players being annoyed that they can't have the title of queen, some players being annoyed that they are only queens when they should rightfully be king etc.
And don't get me started on the insanity that is the military rankings in the game, or how the AI fails to understand that anyone in a Corvette or Cutter is likely far above the AI's station and should be addressed properly.
