WOW dev confirmed current play rate 10 years for 1% of the total systems

WOW, WOW ,WOW, dev Michael brooks confirmed in this developer video from march 2016 that only 0.0077% of the galaxy had been explored, which had increased from 0.0003% the previous year!

This meant(by his rough calculation, not mine) that it would take(from march 2016) 10 years at current play-rate to explore 1% of the galaxy!!! THIS IS INSANE!!!

Even though it is effectively old figures and player count has increased it is still not going to be far off. This is amazing to me. the scope of this game and the volume of explorable areas is really mind-boggling!!!!

Why am I torturing myself for this game so much!!!!?? roll on end june pppplllllleeeaaassseeeee!!!!!!!

here is the link guys- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gaoem7l1Qwg the info starts at 17mins. overall interesting video

100 billion star systems. That's not a small number. In my 10 months of regular play of NMS, which Im under the impression is far more easy to travel around in than it is Elite: Dangerous, I've only managed to visit maybe 700 star systems.

So that's quarter of the galaxy. There are reputed to be 400 Billion systems in the ED galaxy.

Somewhere in the region of 200,000 hand placed systems based on real galaxy data including Sol, Betelgeuse, etc.

400 billion star sytems in our galaxy. WHY does everyone congragate at the "Bubble"? I opting for the gold ship and srv. THEN, it's off to boldly go where no man has gone before.

I am confused now? is it 100 bill or 400 bill as per galaxy in ED?

Even at the figures the other OP quoted just shows the scale of the game and the galaxy. I was just completely boggled when watching the DEV video.

400 Billion.

Fdev has a Stellar Forge that calculated the Ga;xy Elite plays in, it has manual over write for known star systems.

But saying that Fdev Stellar Forge predicted Trappist-1

If you look at EDSM it shows less discovered as not all CMDRs use the 3rd Party app to record their travels, but its estimates 65000 years to discover all of Mily Way!

As Douglas Adams once wrote "Space, is big..."

Whoops. Thought I'd read somewhere that is was 100 Billion systems with many systems containing multiple stars, for est. 400 billion stars total.

The questions is not how big, but how much is there to do?

More content is the usual cry from the 2 year plus community. After honking and landing on several hundreds of rocky moons plants that all look the same with little or nothing to do and / or see... well - you see the problem.

The last announcement by Zac though indicates they are looking strongly into this with a mind to devote budget to getting more content in the 'seasons' ahead.

Personally, i somehow manage to make myself busy in large games so it doesn't really worry me in the least, plus there is potentially 2 years worth of discoveries for me to visit. I don't care about being 'first' but there are some things i would like to see - Alien ruins, crashed ships, generation ships, barnacles, etc.... during which time there will be more content!!!! ah the years i can waste....
