Code action against CoR

The Code has blockaded HR 6421 due to the hostile actions of Children of Raxxla. They have attacked allies of The Code in open and it is believed that they have been affecting Background sims while in private/solo play. This system will remain under lock down until the Code demands are met. Any CMDR who is found in this system and not an ally of The Code will be KOS

A player faction I know nothing about blockading a system I've never heard of. Yep, just another day here in Dangerous Discussions. Always good for a chuckle or two.

I am a big fan of Elite, I play it a lot. However it's not escaped my notice that sometimes there is more content on the Forums than in the game.

Also, we have two active threads about the Code. It's just like the old days !

I was was just going to raise a glass to the old blockades of The Old Worlds or as The Code call it: "The New Caribbean".

Remind me - how did that turn out?

Really? Y'all couldn't even come up with a valid in-game reason?

Because if you're going metagame, word of god says that solo/pg impacting the BGS is completely kosher.

So uh.. have fun with your little "blockade" self pleasuring salt-mining operation guys.

I love you guys and your little tantrums when a player group tries to do something remotely interesting in Open.

Whats that? You can avoid everything by hiding in another mode? Oh good job!

The basic fact is nothing anyone does is of ANY importance. Even you grinders who spend hours of your life doing the same thing because to you its somehow fun. Means Absolutely zero!

The people doing all the research on the hidden haha depths of Elite.. yep same again.. Worthless.... Because nothing is there until FDEV put it in the game, then point you at it and pretend like you did a great job finding it.. Again.. Great job on that... Those Megaships... What content! I mean this time they even added voice acting to a backdrop and you all circled up on that one.

How many of you jumped repeatedly to try and trigger your Thargoid Cut scene? Such gameplay!Much WOW!

So please do continue to echo together about how your safe spaces are safe because of terrible game design or how a player group doing something is not going to work because.. OH yes.. Terrible game design again.

I look forward with GREAT excitement to the next patch, I imagine its going to be a tour de force.
Lets just hope it doesn't contain any challenge, because we know how this forum reacts to that.

I suspect as I type this a bunch of Code individuals are eagerly interdicting folks in OPEN, in just a handful of the instances in existence... most likely just on PC and not XBox or Apple.

And all the while the majority of players, who don't even know who "The Code" are, or anything about this completely non-effectual role playing nonsense, will happily carry on their gameplay in GROUP/SOLO...

I'm not sure what's sadder, Code's role playing griefing excuses, or the fact after 2+ years we still have such shallow game play, or the fact after 2+ years we still don't have any sort of Crime and Punishment mechanics to rein this nonsense in :(

Why would you want to rein this in? Emergent gameplay and inter-faction intrigue/conflict is what this game needs more of, not less. Also I should point out that the system in question is anarchy, so... crime & punishment.. no.

Months of content though. Wing fights, forum fights, intrigue and sneaking around.

If only I had a reason to go to CoR headquarters. I might even be tempted to take the dust covers off my T6.

so by the sounds of it Children of Raxxla are playing in solo trying to stop CODE from expanding i presume (total guesswork but just going on what is written in OP).

if so it seems going on a killing spree in open which, according to the accusations is exactly where Children of Raxxla are NOT seems a strange tactic.

Still, so long as everyone is having fun, Children of Raxxla farming in solo, Code / SDC blowing up what ever moves in open, then i guess that is the important thing.

I feel sorry for those not aware who may get caught in the fallout however.

This cannot be denied. Freeform player led content for player known only reasons. Not just coz fetch quest puts everyone in the same place.

A really good example taking place at the minute would be Lemoncello lizards Rare Drugs campaign to open up the production of Rares drug producing systems. Now if only some serious Federal killjoys would oppose them we might have a game on hands.

The game doesn't generally support emergent gameplay because the mechanics are just too thin.

Point in hand, the Code are off school this week (in the UK) so they can dedicate all this week to interdicting and destroying as many ships as they like, and we all know it will not make a jot of difference, except as an excuse to top up their "grief banks" a bit... As all the time an armada of ships will be invisibly passing by their supposed blockade to do what ever they like.

The game needs the kind of gameplay being suggested in their thread... but first of all it needs the mechanics to support/reward it.

As for reining in psychotic behaviour (even in anarchy systems)... Yes, a Crime and Punishment (or karma) system should do just that IMHO. The benefits out weigh the negatives IMHO. It should even treat NPC and CMDR victims alike IMHO.

What sense does it make to let someone sit at a busy anarchy location destroying explorer after explorer, for then an hour later to log back in, for then this individual to appear absolutely "clean" to the next wave of victims. Not a blemish on his record, or any negative outcome at all... Why? Because of some strange affection for "anarchy systems"? Acting like a psycho should not be ignored. This sort of "loop hole" has no benefit to the game, only to the kind of people inclined to abuse it.

Awww the passive aggression in this post is at an 11.

But you are mostly right.

ED is so badly designed as a Multiplayer game that everything is pointless, so everyone should just stop playing and go outside.
