On forums the controversial heated threads are bumped to the top. On Reddit the posts, even controversial ones that get most comments, move down with age so it's calmer in general.

Scone is probably the closest thing. You can make them sweet or savoury but they are more popular as sweet versions.

If you're having it with gravy then it's possibly closer to a dumpling (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumpling#British_and_Irish_cuisine)
