Colonia in a Combat Corvette?

...poking his head back in (so to speak)

I've got to do something to get back into the game, I'm sat here with this ridiculoulsy over-powered Corvette (oh, and the flame paint job with the ship kit is just *mental*) and nowhere to go.

I was thinking about popping over to the Maia district and seeing if I can't get a selfie with a Thargoid but then I thought: 18.11LY range, that's only 1/2 my old Anaconda's pre-engineered range and I went all the way to BP and back twice in that.... hmmmm...

I have realised I can 1/2 the weight of my scanners (which will be a HUGE saving) which will help but I do not want to reduce its capabilities in any way.

Am I being mad here?

A little mad :p but it should be possible. I noticed the vette is a bit of a gas guzzler when it comes to exploring. So word of advice, you may want to bring an extra bit of fuel along before heading out. Good luck if you do decide to venture out there though o7

Bring a large scoop and replace it via part transfer when you reach Colonia. I hope you find something to do there. I recently passed through there but found nothing too exciting to keep me around..

I've just done some jiggery-pokery with modules (including dropping the scanner weight from 160 tons to 37 via engineering) changing the fuel scoop from a type 6a to a 7a and I've now got a giddy range of 19.98LY! Oh be still my beating heart.

25 jumps to Maia for a small warm up....

Good to see you back at it :) Have a great flight!

Be careful when moving things out to Colonia as it can be extremely expensive. My 7A Prismatic is 89 Million to transfer and would take 3 days to arrive. So make sure you have some spare change on you when you get there. That being said, fly safe good sir/madam o7

Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you could store components, strip the beast down and reconfigure after you ship your parts out; not cheap, but possible.

Oh I'm not moving stuff. I'm going to fly out there, see if it's changed from when I first visited (about a week or so after it was discovered) and fly back. I remember the mass of neutron stars right next to it so I'm hoping to clean the paint job up and do some selfies and wander back. I pity any idiot who thinks they can gank this ship ;)

In the meantime I have to work out how to map my new xbone controller to the camera suite (yup, I've not played for THAT long....)

I went out there in a 17ly Python and back in a 18ly Cobra 3, the Python is still there for when I go visiting in my 30ly type 6.

Aren't we all a little bit mad?

No, and I have a certificate to prove it. It's in crayon but it's a certificate and I'm very proud of it.

Alitnil went on Economy routing without a fuel scoop - you will be fine ;)

I recall a few people flying combat Corvettes to Sagittarius A*, probably before the waystations to Colonia and/or neutron star boosting. Module transfers weren't an option there, although you said you won't do it anyway.

Oh, and yeah, you will find that the place has changed since it was only Jaques station there. Instead of it just being a lonely base far away from anything else, now it's a central hub between a handful of systems, and something like forty PMF (player minor faction) systems.
Personally, now that the new bubble has been seeded, I wish that Jaques would move on somewhere else. However, with all the ships stored aboard the station, that would likely be problematic. (Although now FD could just transfer them all to the nearby Colonia Dream station.)
