Been here at the double one in OI-T C3-7 A for 2 hours now but to no avail.
How long have you been camping at the barnacles with still no alien ship?

I haven't... Given that there are relatively few sightings given the number of players looking for them, I'd rather be doing other things.
What worked for me was to drive away from the barnacles to 500m or 1km. The return to barnacles, then renter ship. Then leave ship and repeat the process. I kept doing this for 20 mins or so and then the alien arrived.
Might not work for everyone, but it's worth a try.

And than people say "you have 500 hours of gameplay and you are still not satisfied" when in reality out of those 500 hours 450 is waiting for stuff to load/happen/get developed

I tend to view the mystery ships as in-game teasers for future content, not content in and of themselves. Yes, I would love a close encounter with them, and if it happens by chance, great, but I'm not about to pursue an encounter with them. They're like a Community Goal I don't have an interest in participating in, or the current status of Power Play: I'm glad its there, I find it interesting to read about/watch, but at the end of the day, my Commander's story is more interesting to me.
Personally, I'm glad that they remain a rare event. There is nothing I find less interesting in MMOs than set in stone encounters. "Welcome to the lair of the Lich King! 18-20 hours over three days, in PG and solo. Used OA's technique (mainly to relieve the boredom), and watched other CMDRs playing silly games, while I got on with jobs around the house.
1st time i went away because of a griefer ... he came to wipe us all ( survived and switched to solo mode with hull at 36% left then waited for 3 hours with no success )
2nd time i was waiting there in the SVR until the usual funny guy went to kill us all and destroied my svr.
the 3rd time i activated the self destruction sequence due to total boredom

At least 4 hours so far. Maybe 6 hours...

On and off, total wait time so far is more then 32 hours.., that's in total. longest time was 13 hours.

Guess i'll make this short and to the point TO LONG, longest was 13 hours waiting, is it really this hard to get them to appear? it really cant be, can it ?
I collected over 26 straight hours of footage. took a whole 20 to get my first one. Then a few hours later for the second. Funnily enough, I created my own private group and when I went into that, I got two encounters within 2 hours, closer to hour, hour and 1/2.
Basically I'd screw around for about 20 - 30 minutes. Switch to solo, screw around a bit then back to my private group and boom. Worked for me. Could be just luck but who knows

NO really DAYS.. this is my third day so far... it i had to put in hours i say over 30.. I tried all weekend in and out of group. I tried what Ant said (love you're videos!, keep doing what you're doing !) and noting.. Starting to wonder if I'm bugged or something cant imagination that this was how long you're supposed to wait.[alien][cool]
