if I may ask, what 3D plotting tool are you using?

Here is a 3D viewer for the Generation ship locations and the ELW known providing possibilities of the destination.

Hopefully this might help in locating more Gen ships

http://a360.co/2qQ6Kmm This is the viewer.

There isn't a tool to plot the information it is all being added in manually to scale on Auto cad

So I think we glitched an unknown ship. Showed up at the barnacle site and know it wont leave. Some of us managed to get our ships power back after relogging into the same instance and "interacted" with it (shoot, honk, datalink, ram) with no reaction, but we were able to move it around for it to return to hovering above the barnie. A cmdr in a cutter did make an awesome display of playing with it, kinda like an orca playing with a dead seal. Wainting for my clips to (hopefuly) upload

Some more UP stuff :-

Clean UP sounds when honked (also shows you cant be in external camera and get the Honk effect)

Honking a UP on planet surface recorded from the SRVs with a friend, Fun effects shown from the UP. (Old guys using TS, you were warned :) )

Just some fun Nothing special 1UP, 1UA, 1Relic, 1 Occupied Escape Pod. As offerings at a Barnacle. (1st second is because of HighRes screenshot)

I spent yesterday trying items as offerings lol. Needless to say, nada !!!

this is on xbox btw

has anyone checked the data as to what materials are available to extract on the planets with barnacles on them (and more specifically the one with the "refueling" event) to maybe establish a baseline on what materials the barnacles could be extracting? Perhaps the reason you are getting no reactions to the barnacles is because you are not offering the right thing.

By the looks of it, the barnacles are there converting underground elements into something usable by the unknown ships. Perhaps try seeing what elements are available on the planets with barnacles and then dropping some of those elements near the barnacles "mouth" or hole or whatever then triggering the event, or seeing if the barnacle reacts to the elements.

Or it could be the barnacles do not interact at all.

You'll be sorry when Mummy Karma the Space Whale shows up!

Barnacles extract minerals fom the planet & produce as materials in the pods on their spikes, but these materials and the Meta Alloy pods are not gathered by the flowerships during these "refuelling" events. So I dont think your hypothesis is viable.

Whatever the planet holds the Barnacles extract them, I believe they are waste products from a process and that Meta Alloys are another waste product but a waste product that can only be produced by this alien barnacle process.

Which is exactly my point, if barnacles are all on planets rich in arsenic, who's to say its not extracting that arsenic? So what would happen if we dropped some arsenic near the barnacle? The barnacle is almost like a refinery, it takes the raw ore, turns it into something, which the unknown ship then absorbs. These planets may have similar elements that we can salvage by shooting rocks, which is probably much more primitive and time consuming then using barnacles which could absorb bulk minerals and nutrients and then pass it onto the unknown ship, the meta-alloy could just be a waste product from this process. I'll look more into this myself today, nothing else to do at work. What happens if a large amount of the nutrients the barnacle is seeking is dropped near one? Would it absorb those minerals and process it into whatever the unknown ship absorbs? perhaps this is a way to trigger the barnacle becoming "full" and transmitting a signal to the ship for pickup.

The pods might just be waste, a biproduct of the synthesis of the planets elements into whatever the u-ships syphon from them

Obligitory xkcd in terms of arsenic based life.

Are we at that point in the conversation where we can say "Nice hypothesis - why don't you test it out?" yet :)

gladly, if you don't mind waiting another mmmm 6 hours or so for me to get off work, get home, jump in the asp x, and fly over there.
