Its funny... Every time someone happens to quote a post from one of my Ignore List members, my original decision is universally reaffirmed! ;)

Heh. It is called confirmation bias shipmate.

You do not think that an unbiased journalist would be better?

If it was not for the fact that FD plied those that visited the offices with ingame prizes & special treatment then i would be far more open minded about this stuff.

A journalist that did not mention they received a gift for a good review would be frowned upon so i'm glad that OA and the others at least admit that they received gifts too.

They are at E3 to meet journalists and probably received some at there studios so it's not one or another.

And they didn't say much about what they saw during the visit except than they can't say anything and that we'll soon could see and judge by ourself.

Let's just wait t'ill monday and Tuesday to see what they show at E3.

Apparently they've got ED posters on the walls and stuff relating to Elite in the offices! This demonstrates a remarkable commitment to the product. OK.

But I bet they scooped all the fun Planet Coaster stuff into the broom cupboard before the whispering one arrived.

p.s. My kid says ED is OK and looks brilliant, also well optimised, but that it is fundamentally boring (especially supercruise - which we all hate, but DB loves.)

Planet Coaster is, in my son's opinion, a massive hit. But like me, he can't understand why Planet Coaster gets all the fun; whilst ED gets all the boring grind. But with 100 people working on it.. (hmmm)

A beautiful example of false equivalency. Bravo.

now, just where is that ignore button..?

Thanks for the great video and write-up Obsidian Ant. I do like your videos, keep them coming.

I have always had faith in Frontier and knew the sky wasn't falling, maybe wrapping itself around planets to give it an atmosphere ;) but never falling, however it's always good to have confirmation from a non-Frontier person.

Just gone back to Dying Light (wanna see what, if anything, they do to the cheaters*), but this has left me cautiously hyped for the future.

* & Crime & Punishment, Orrery, more landable planets, exploration, alien / ruins story line...

Thanks for the info OA (and all the others lucky enough to visit FD)!

I was a little bummed that the info won't be released until E3, until I looked up the show dates: June 13-15, 2017

That's very soon. I look forward to finding out what's in store for the next patch.

That's the Thargoid ai now. ;)

Just the usual attempt by FD to influence a few people in the community they perceive as important or worth making some effort with.

How about FD stops selecting elements of the community to put on pillars and or support with special treatment? Any form of bias and/or preferential treatment of the player base is not a good idea and reeks of FD naivety and desperation.

The initial concept of tiered support for the player base (based on popularity and ability to promote the product) was and is terrible. "Triple elite player groups" ... the concept is cringeworthy and has proven to be a complete joke.

Separating player groups into tiers, separating "FD affiliates" into tiers and now individuals getting special treatment from the company...

Just learn the basics of how to communicate with your player base effectively FD.

What a complete & utter load of.....well, you know what.

Because different strokes!. I will be the 1st to admit ED needs work in places but a subjective "make elite fun" is meaningless. One persons fun is another persons mindless arcade shooter, another persons fun is someone else's dull empty spaces sim.

What FD should do (in my biased opinion) is go back to the ddf as that is the game that those who actually followed elite and understand it hopefully want. More importantly it is (I hope) the game the devs want to play to quote their tagline.

My guess is the stuff I ideally want in you would hate and find dull and Grindy. I doubt FD will build that game either

No. There is a general consensus regarding what is engaging. I doubt that what I would find engaging (read 'fun' if you wish - there is little difference) you would not also find engaging.

The problem with ED is (and always has been) that concepts like 'engaging' and 'fun' seem to be at the back of the wish list. I blame Braben for this fundamental misstep.

Except... Frontiers: First Encounters (a D. Braben Elite game from the 90s) was both fun and engaging, so - there's that!
