My visit to Frontier Developments and the Future of the Game

Very interesting ObsidianAnt, my doubts are now on hold, and i'm eager to discover what you've already seen about future developments.

You need a citation? So you have no opinion?

I do need a citation, yes. Because I think that there may well not be a common consensus on what constitutes 'engaging' in a game. And I certainly don't think that Elite lacks it to the degree that a few here seem to think it does (or, at times, seemingly want it to lack it).

I think there are a few posters here that simply don't like the game that Elite is. Which is fine.
I think they have fallen out of love with the game. Which is fine.
But there's a subset of those that seem to just want to post a stream of constant negativity, for reasons I don't understand. More, they seem to want to make other people not like the game either. Which, quite frankly, is just pathetic.

I'm starting to think you are one of those. I'd love to be proved wrong.

If you really don't have any faith in the way the game is going then remove it from your life. Seriously. Go play something you actually like, if you can find something, because life's too short to devote this amount of time and effort on disliking something you don't have to interact with if you choose not to.

But for the love of the Gods, stop whining.

Thank you OP, it was informative and just good to hear. Looking forward to see one of the best games ever, become even better!
And please Frontier, drop us a little snippet like this now and then, and the community will be a lot more confident. Give us a monthly Dev-Update or so... it would be awesome.

And some peoples negativity and sarcasm here is almost cute... like kids, who got the wrong birthday present.

So the season passes are done for? Do I get my money back then for it?

It was a lifetime expansion pass, rather than season pass. So long as they're charging for expanded content then it aught to constitute value over time. Possibly over a long period than people were thinking around Horizon's launch though.

(I had the £30 version mind, so pretty much whatever they do is good value give the hours I've put into the game)

Edit: "put into the game" is a poor term. Time I've enjoyed would be better. :)

Panti-line is a classic case of "all mouth & no trousers". Hates the game yet will happily waste literally HOURS of his time trolling the forums. What a sad, pathetic little man he must be. Clearly no friends & no social life either.

Thats some top tier personal attack white knighting you're doing there.

I think the observation on RNG and repetitive gameplay can for the most part be separated out by how long a player has experienced it. By that I mean everyone has an individual tolerance for it which is why you hear the noise growing on the issue as time moves on more players start to become effected.

I'm glad Frontier is going back to core gameplay though I'm stuggling to see in my own mind how they intend to sell that...

There's many possibilities for new and devastating Thargoid weaponry in those snippets of code. :)

Thargoid weapons confirmed!!

The forum salt cannon: when fired it corrodes your hull away (and your will to live).
The ranter : Extremely high pitched whining noise that disables your scanners and weapons, usually combined with the transmission blocker... a huge wall of text fired into your comms array that take you 20 mins to read during which time they use
The ban hammer : Kills you in one shot.

Thanks for the info OA (and all the others lucky enough to visit FD)!

I was a little bummed that the info won't be released until E3, until I looked up the show dates: June 13-15, 2017

That's very soon. I look forward to finding out what's in store for the next patch.

Keep in mind that Frontier have said they will only be showing some of 2.4 at E3. Other stuff will be shown at a later date.
