ship recalled but wont land :/

Currently on a high g planet and everytime i recall my ship it appears, flys 5km away and just hovers untill i dismiss it again? theres places to land as ive checked and ive found loadsa flat terrain but same result everytime, no problems on other planets any ideas? i know how to recover to orbit - its just annoying.

Probably the ship computer is too frightened that it will crash the ship instead of landing it due to high gravity.

You should treat your board Computer with respect. Some are known to be resentful...

yeh... its a combat fitted cutter. i know about the recover to orbit trick, as im in VR it's abit immersion breaking, ill try boarding while its hovering - it not ill post a bug report. cheers o7

Had a similar issue on Achenar 3 with the Cutter, it comes in to land, freaks out and boosts upward,

I sat watching it for a few mins having a good giggle, then self destructed my SRV because I didn't feel like logging out of the game

I had the same thing with my combat Cutter on a ~2.5g world several weeks ago. Flew down, boosted away and then just hovered with the SRV bay closed until dismissed. I tried it quite a few times in different locations and all three modes with no luck.

Another player in a Python tried to help by physically forcing my Cutter down onto the ground, but the landing wouldn't take and as soon as they broke contact she thrusted back up into the hover. After that they destroyed the SRV for me and all was well, aside from a couple of failed SC transitions when trying to leave the planet.

I was on a really knarly planet surface and there were no flat spots to land, so the ship hovered and I could board that way. I thought it was a really good tweak on FD's part to do that.....

haha i can recover to orbit by just running elite without horizons but wondered if there was a way to make it land... pain in ... cos i use this planet alot for antimony. oh well maybe they'll fix it.

Only had this happen once, on Decait 6 or maybe 7, I forget, but definitely in the Decait system, where ever arsenic is most plentiful.
I was teaching a new commander how to use the SRV fish-finder to look for arsenic. I'd dismissed my ship and when I tried to recall, it only came half-way down and hovered there. I could dismiss again, but when I recalled, same thing. We even tried moving more than 2km away, and same thing.

But simply logging out and back in took care of whatever the issue was, and all was well.

Yes, air pick up is what it's trying to do but I've found it doesn't always work, maybe due to a dip immediately below the hatch if the surface is very bumpy. I've had this where I've had to dismiss the ship once or twice for it to find the right spot. This has also happened to me several times even when the ship has landed, sometimes a bump in the surface prevents you from getting underneath. Dismiss and try again. (or self destruct as already advised if you can't be bothered messing about)
