New Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS One!

Try it, plug in a keyboard and test a few keys it works for me.

but.. to do what? Do you pair it with the mouse and move around? do you still use the controller?

The reason I ask: Astroneer is a play anywhere title still in pre-alpha. Being able to use a keyboard on the XB1 for it sounds more like a bug than a feature.

You can use it along with the controller or separately for full controll. I use the keyboard to sprint because holding the thumbstick on a controller hurts after a while.

It also works with battlefield 1 for the same thing (W,A,S,D movement and things like that).

For mine, this is how her list goes:
Puppies!
Kittens!
Backrubs!
Snacks!
Motorcycle rides!
Snacks!
Backrubs!

Wait a minute!
I've seen Rules of engagement!
How many of those backrubs resulted in sexy times? Judging by the amount of snacks, I'd guess a few! You can't count those.

Can you look with it too? Does a mouse work? or are you using a controller for that?

Depends on how many times she had to come back to the living room and tell me to dock and get off Elite Dangerous.......that could be used in a few different ways, but I'm sticking with it.

On a side note, she has watched me play so much she knows my ships.

On the HOTAS One topic though. Looking online at prices (the PS4/PC version) I'm guessing a release price of $70 and the Rudder pedals $90. The current prices on Amazon are $61.38 and $70.45 respectively.

Told you to dock off huh.. I must have misheard all those times.

Its only keyboard support, same controls as you would expect on PC. For elite this would be fine.

All we need a keyboard for is extra keybinds the controller doesn't have enough buttons for, and since MS already added keyboard support [but no mouse? Why not?] what we need is for FDev to add the keyboard to Elite's XBox control settings so we can actually use them.

THANK YOU!!! (for finding this!)

So True - they have to fix that - I hate running in Astroneer - it's like being punished!

PC controls include a mouse, and we aren't getting mouse support.

MS confirmed they opened full Keyboard support to all developers.

Also confirmed Mouse support was problematic - when added only very few mice would be supported at first - very odd imho but I'm glad Phil Spencer is pushing it!

From this past May:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017...orward-to-keyboard-support-on-xbox-one-games/

It's been nearly a year since Microsoft's Phil Spencer promised we were "not years away, it’s more like months away" from full support for mouse and keyboard controls on the Xbox One. At the Build Conference this week, Microsoft confirmed that full support for keyboards (but not mice) on the console will be available through UWP cross-platform development and the still-in-preview Xbox Live Creators Program.

...

Digital Trends followed up with Parsons after the presentation, who told them that "initially, most models of mice won’t be compatible. However, a handful of mice will be, and Microsoft hopes to add support for all mice over time."

Has anyone tried to plug in a keyboard recently while playing Elite?

I don't think it's quite that simple.
The question has been asked before and the response was the the keyboard was simply for text and assigning actions to them wasn't (currently) possible.
However that was a few months ago

Additional:
On the subject of the pedals, on Amazon they currently say compatible with pc, PS4, so are these new for Xbox? Or do they function through the hotas somehow? Also do we think they'll bring additional control or just emulate other controls? (Like the elite controller flappy paddles)

you might not need the rudder pedals, the ps4 version (at least the one pictured on amazon) seems to have the yaw input available on the rear side of the throttle like my old saitek x45 has which is awesome as i hate stick twist yaw

My keyboard is always plugged in and only thing it can do is text or pause the game.

My current theory is that the games wth the support were ports of the PC version hence why it works and has PC control scheme.
