"Well we know about a capital ship destroyed in HIP 17044. Maybe that's a good starting point?" This guy on reddit has a decent point. How about we all go looking in the one system that had TWO destroyed capital ships in.

(snip!)

Now I've got that out of my system, there's no way we're finding a new type of planetary site that's only in one or two spots unless lots of people are looking and the search area is narrowed down.

(Snip!)

Dude - this is the Canonn + associates you're talking about. The number of things that have been found which had no right to be found is silly ;)

Edit: that said, any outside hints/help will be greatly appreciated when the time comes!

8 landable bodies.

1 of them is around the second planet which is where you start from to find the distress signal/unregistered comms beacon.

I've heard worse theories.

All true. But people were motivated to look. The permit locked system where we all know it is kinda sucked out a lot of motivation for some of us :)

"1 of them is around the second planet which is where you start from to find the distress signal/unregistered comms beacon." that seems to narrow down things :)

EDIT: The gas giant also has ammonia. Come on. That cant be a coincidence.

REPLYING TO MY ORIGINAL COMMENT CHAIN!!!

someone said that it says there not in game. And yet Ed... well...

Usually, IN THE PAST, what's been shown in a trailer, it's always already been in game. And ED reply seems to confirm this:

Where does it say that this isn't in the game until 2.4? Hint - it doesn't.
(nowhere is said that this stuff isn't already in game, so we should look for it now)

exactly!

Also bear in mind the comms beacon Ed found in livestream one mentioned the name of the megaship in the permit locked system which is hovering over the 2.3 teaser site (though knowing that is a bit meta).

Yeah. Id assume FD locked that system because we found it out of them permit locking it in beta.

Nevertheless....name of the megaship (OVERLOOK), gas giant with ammonia as a reference point with 1 landable planet orbiting, combined with Ed's possible hint? It's enough to get me out there for a look. I will no doubt run out of steam after around 20 minutes of flying over very samey surface features, but hell...I have nothing better to do right at this moment :)

This would appear to contradict my earlier statement - but if 'teh cave' has been hiding somewhere all this time, then...

I just imagine MB sitting there with his head in his hands!

Nah. Id assume this has just been in for 2.3 FD only show trailers when there in... or coming up. And since the unknown trailer was... I think before 2.3? Id like to assume it is in right now

There might well be more than one cave. If the Guardian ruins thought us anything it's to keep looking, even if the trailer content is located.

Following your thoughts about searching Merope 5C, has anyone taken both a UA and UP to the planet surface and see what they do? Perhaps they may point to something?

Yes, I'm almost certain that's been done. I recall videos of the things gaily rolling around the barnacle sites doing the same thing they always do :)

i dont remember planets being this dark

If the very old lore is to be believed, Thargoids has a stage in their development where they live as parasites in other creatures.

I'm don't it these stories form The Dark Wheel are true but the few clips and pics we have seen of 'the cave', look rater organic on the outside and barnacle like on the inside.

Perhaps barnacles grows into a creature that the Thargoids use as nests?

An advanced species would engineer the prefect host for their young, wouldn't they?
