PS4/PS4 Pro info?

Couple more questions - possible slight overlap with some that have already been written but due to the speed of the questions coming in, I will plough on with my versions regardless

1) General - What learning points have Frontier gained from their previous deployments on the Xbox consoles? Is there anything that we can do to help with the early days after go-live?

2) There are some noticeable differences between the various pre-order packages from different sources. Things like the Goldwinder, Avatars or pre-packaged Frontier points change depending on which route you choose. Are there any plans to standardise the packages prior launch?

3) Concurrent release with patch 2.3.10 - As the 27th June will see both the PS4 release and deployment of the 2.3.10 patch to live, will there be a required deployment sequence? i.e. will PS4 users need 2.3.10 to be live before we can play or will we be able to log in from midnight, before the 2.3.10 patching work starts? Will there be any outage on launch day to

4) PSN store – Will PS4 users have access to the entire Elite Store of ship kits, paint jobs, bobbleheads etc. or is there an additional level of Sony accreditation for each store item that could lead to us potentially ending up with a sub-set of the full store?

5) Performance – Will Playstation users have any settings options available to them should they feel that they are seeing performance problems? Will Commanders be able to change settings such as V-Sync, FPS lock or Screen resolution?

6) PSVR – I appreciate that VR is a great addition to the PC community and the PSVR is the obvious equivalent for the playstation community. It is unfortunate that PSVR will not be available at launch. What are the current plans for PSVR? Will Frontier be looking at providing PSVR functionality as a point release in the future when it is ready or is it likely to be rolled into a main update?

7) Vita remote play – Can you please provide more details on the remote play functionality. Is it limited to the Vita or will it work on any Sony ‘second screen’ device?

8) Group / Instance size – Will Frontier be limiting Commanders in the same instance? If so, what is the maximum number of players that could inhabit the same instance?

1) I can add it, but there's no way that'll ever be a thing. Even on PC it has nothing to do with Frontier, it's a third-party program.

i will keep my fingers crossed

2)when chatting, pressing the TAB button on your keyboard cycles between Local, Wing (if you are in one), and then Direct towards your nearest CMDRs.

i was thinking of chatting with microphone, but if it is same thats cool

Will add them (might rework some a little) later today. Thanks :)

Anyone got anymore questions for Seph to add to the OP? Its looking quite comprehensive now.

Are you organizing this list? Whoever is, I recommend putting commonly asked and "easy to answer" questions at the top, with the more obscure, individualized questions further down. Separate the wheat from the chaff, as they say. I happily submit my own questions to this pruning process.

Hello! Just about to announce this in a livestream thread... but we're doing a pre-PS4 launch livestream next week (on Thursday) where we'll be basically answering any leftover questions. There will be a forum post that runs down all that information too. We've got a couple of things to wrap up in terms of exactly how it will roll out, so we're waiting for that... you should have everything you need to know on Thursday at 7PM BST!

We'll be showing off the game, and all the features on the stream too. Lloyd Morgan-Moore will be joining me on the stream, he's the producer who has been responsible for moving the game over to the PS4 (and he's lovely and has a nice face).

See you on Thursday :)

Cheers Ed, you the man

Just thought of one - are private groups there from launch? On Xbox they were not available to begin with.

was going to ask will it be possible for player made groups to be made in to minor factions like xbox1/pc, but that question would be classed as a conflict of interest. considering i have made a group and hope to have it become one of the first ps4 minor factions, if not the first.

i only have 2 but i think they will have already been asked, but don't ask don't get:

Q1) will there be voice reconigtion in game?
Q2) and how will in game communication work, and will we be able to toggle between broadcasting to local space and talking to wing members in private?

hope those to question are not to far fetched

Are you referring to whether Frontier will allow Sony Party Chat to work in conjunction with Elite?

The list is on the front page (post one of this thread), its Sephs post, he's adding the stuff there. I just talk to Seph a lot on discord. :)

I think its still not understood if it will have in-game chat, like PC (and other PS4 games). Party chat will always work, outside the game though.

This is the problem. We want information like this, and we've received nothing at all. I'm honestly expecting a delay in launch because they simply aren't ready.

To create Player Groups and Minor Factions already has an FAQ, won't it just be the same?

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=241826

i have read it, i have applied for ED group status for my group. but just want to clarify that if i get group status i will be allowed to apply for minor faction status once games released, don't fancy putting all this effort in to recruiting members, designing badges and the like. to be told it won't happen, but i am optimistic and i guess i have nothing to worry about

I think, based on a bunch of research I did on all of this in general, that once your group has been established for awhile, it's not too hard to apply for faction status. You'll need to find a home system, and those in the know recommend a more "out of the way" system that doesn't have much competition. Otherwise established, competing factions will run you out of town! Speaking of getting run out of town, you might want to find the system on the opposite end of Thargoid space ;)

First this, first that, you always want to be first. How about the first to die at the business end of my engineered railguns, muhahaha!!!!

Drat, that Sith persona just won't stay in the box! You can blame Stormy for this.

It's not stress, it's Stormy's fault! He showed me the true power of the dark side. Once you go down that path..... Save me Acid-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!
