Terraforming economies

So has anyone found out yet if terraforming economies are able to be completed with player help? or is it just forever terraforming unless there is cg

Terraforming economies can turn into Agricultural economies, but only via FD intervention - it's not automatic. We've all assumed that it was originally intended to be automatic as part of a more dynamic BGS, and FD may still make it so in the future, but no news as yet.

Lorewise, terraforming takes years. It took them twenty years to terraform Mars back in the late 2100s, after a couple of abortive attempts. Terraforming tech has advanced considerably over the last millennium, but planets are big and atmospheres and hydrospheres have a lot of inertia to overcome, and better tech can only help so much. The ED universe doesn't have a "genesis torpedo" instant terraformer and there are stories in the ED lore of planets being hurriedly terraformed with resultant defects and failures in the artificial ecosystem. According to lore, the Empire prefers biotech and genetic engineering methods (which are quicker but more prone to going rogue), while the Federation prefers high-tech automation and robotics to do the work.

There have been numerous "Finish the Terraforming" CGs since the game began. They ran a whole bunch just after CGs were first introduced in March 3301, in Djaujas, Dohkwithi, HIP 54692, Khona and Milelbis. Then in March 3302, we had one in Vennik. All of these systems were either Alliance or Independent at the time of the CG. If March is "Terraforming season", then we missed out this year.

There is a beacon in Delta Pavonis about an accidental genocide of native lifeforms due to an early failed terraforming attempt.

Be nice to have another CG for the Empire and Federation to do this.

If your chosen planet is on the other side of the bubble from Maia, you could justify speeding up the terraforming as there will be a large number of people fleeing the Thargoid menace.
