Old Newbie

Hello all.

So, I have just bit the bullet and bought the Standard Beta for the game, ready for next week. I have been running through the training missions and getting to grips with the controls. I need WAY more practice. Now, I have been looking around the forums and while a lot of my questions have been answered, I have a few that I couldnt find an answer for.

1. I know that there are going to be 400billion star systems in the game, but what I wanted to know is...will there be alien relics, abandoned alien stations etc for me to salvage? You know...is there a chance I could get a rare alien spaceship for my own?

2. How much of the galaxy will be colonized? Will we be able to claim and manage star systems? Commission the construction of stations in those systems etc?

3. Custom decals? I would really like to make my ship mine using some custom decals. Do we know if they are going to be in the game?

Anyway, I just thought I would say hi and let you all know I am here. Excited isnt the word to describe my butt tingles right now. :p

Hello!

1. Hopefully :)

2. Not sure. For exploration's sake there will have to be large swathes which are virgin territory, but then you might get far-flung outposts, pariah regions, alien civilisations.. impossible to say atm.

3. No idea ;)

1) There are no aliens in ED other than the Thargoids. No ancient races (that I know of) There may be abandoned stations; ruins etc but unlikely IMO ... you definitely should run across settlers that headed out for the stars whilst the rest of humanity squabbled over various planets, but other than that I doubt it.

2) A bubble 70LY across is habited by humans .. the rest will be frontier land so scattered about the place you will find human colonies ... and if you're lucky you may find where the Thargoids hang out. (Or unlucky depending upon what you do ;))

3) Has been suggested in the past to FD but no feedback that I can remember. There is likely to be a MT shop through which vanity items could be purchased - who knows, one of the options could be to buy and upload your own decal.

(Welcome to the forums as well :))

Those are skins, not decals .. Newsletter AFAIK was wrong. (mistake)

Okay, I knew about the Thargoids, but this was back in a time when the elite games while still massive, had a limited scope compared to 400 billion stars. There are literally that many possibilities now. It could open up new chances for new races, new technologies and more.

I do really hope for custom decals. It would seem to be an obvious thing to do so that people can make their ships really personal.

Humanity has yet to discover any sentient alien species other than the Thargoids (whether the original inhabitants of Achenar, the Imperial capital system were sentient or not, is a matter of debate). However, FD has said that there are things out there to be discovered. Whether that includes intelligent life forms we won't know until we've explored the galaxy.
