Newcomer / Intro Imperial Navy Missions

So i read i need to be friendly or cordial to get these Imperial Navy Missions. So i find this system where the guy has a Imperial navy mission, Awesome, but i'm not friendly yet. So i fly around, do all these missions to get to friendly, took about an hour, then i go back to him and the mission isn't there any more. So i found a few more Imperial Navy Missions but wasn't high enough rank, so i do the missions, get friendly with them and when i go back to that person who had the mission previously, it's no longer there, like 30 minutes later. What am i supposed to do i'm stuck at like 100 percent forever and i want to rank up. Do i simply need to run into someone who i'm hopefully cordial or friendly with in this massive universe and hope they have the mission for me ? This sucks. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forever Outsider

You do it the other way round.
First, you get friendly/cordial/allied with the factions on on (or several) systems, then you hang around in that system and wait for one of the navy missions to become available. If that mission doesn't fit your play style, you wait some more. While you're waiting, you keep on doing missions from that system.

If you want to make lots of money besides (so you can afford... errmmm.... greasing the path a bit), you do that with a fast ship that can hold one or two first/business class passenger cabins. Fast so you can carry those crime lords that don't want to be scanned.

although it says you're at 100% for rank increase, the next rank is stacking so just keep doing Imperial missions in a few local systems so the reputation goes up. EG do a few more missions and when the rank-increase mission does appear and you complete it... you'll be a certain % into the next one already.

It's sadly a bit random when the navy mission appears, you just keep checking for it, but good news is you can just carry on towards the next rank, albeit, blindly.

Thanks so much, i'll stick around those systems now that i'm friendly and wait for them. I need to look into those passenger cabins cause those mission pay real nice !

OH WOW, that's Great News ! Here i was thinking all these Imperial missions i'm doing to get friendly while I was at 100 percent was all for nothing. You seriously made my night ! thanks so much

Thanks everyone, I did hang around the system and finally got a Naval mission and thankfully I was already 50 percent into the next rank. Life is Good!

This is very true! I am travelling a few months now searching for imperial navy missions, and sometimes I actually find one, but most of the time it is not a suitable one (even had a few where it says "Ship too Large", really funny, not a bug of course, just intentionally begin irritating). When I finally found a suitbale one, it promoted me to Viscount, and again at 100% (done so many missions, trading and such inbetween, that i am eligible for the next promotion). So gave up searching, eventually I will do them as i see fit and everything I will do inbetween will count toward the end.

It is troubling though, that this problem keeps popping up; I would rather see a better system for promotions, but I think this is intentional: FD wants you to go through a lot and not give away promotions too easily, like it is in real life, no certainty, only incertainties!

Agreed !! If it was too easy it wouldn't as fun, however, I found an Imperial system just outside the human bubble and it's turning out to be easier than I hoped. I was an Outsider yesterday, today i'm 88 Percent into Squire !

Aditi and Wu Guinagi are some of the best systems to gain Imperial rank, albeit a bit outside the bubble. They're both remote but have one other systems nearby, so you can load up on missions (data transfer, passenger, etc.) at system A, jump to system B, turn in missions and take more, jump to system A, rinse and repeat. It's grindy but it's fast, and you'll make good money doing it.

Wow, you called it ! That exactly were i am right now, Wu Guinagi. i'm going back and forth topped up with 20 data missions each way and i'm currently 62 percent into Knight, i really only started doing this. It is super grindy but i got a good rhythm going. I'm new to the game so i don't find it boring at all. I haven't tried passenger missions but that's probably a good idea as they pay well right ?

Yep definitely. When I did this I had ecomony passenger cabins fitted and used a mixture of bulk passenger transport and data delivery. I can't remember exactly how much I earned but it was something in the region of 50 million CR from Outsider to Baron. I also used to take some of the sightseeing missions to pass the time and earn money when I got bored of grinding.
