Youtuber Kornelius Briedis seems to have had it with Fdevs

Ugh every time this debate comes up I say the same thing. Myself and many others I know who play don't use Steam for E:D.

Let me understand - You repeatedly duck into a thread, not to really comment on the topics being discussed in there, but instead to basically pick fault with the people posting in that thread? For example, your tag line suggesting these posters must clearly have "too much time" if they can post about such things...

Yet here you are, needlessly posting half a dozen times in the thread desperately trying prove some non-point? Ironic no? :)

Dude, its Fdev forums.... Are you at all surprised?
The flagrant arrogance displayed by some here, so easily dismissing the influence that media such as Youtube and Twitch has in this day and age, is rather astounding.
You don't come of as being learned or worldly in your summary dismissal. You come off as thoroughly ignorant.

If it was just a few people it would different but some things are seriously broken, such as the engineer grind.
In your opinion.

Also the recent engineering exploit situation which Fdev handled in about the worst way possible by refusing to even state that the mods in question have been removed. Which I believe translates to "we did nothing but patch the exploit."
And this impacts on your game play, how exactly?

Play the game, or don't. The zone between those two extremes is reserved for the masochistic, the whiny and arm-chair developers.

Sort of feels a little bit more like attention seeking or some desperation for one-upmanship TBH?

If you don't agree with the thread, why keep coming back just to try and basically insult folks?

EDIT: Ninja'd - See my comment has already been made by Vasea ;)

People have every right to create threads about random guys from the internet, just like others have every right to tell them they don't care. Again, again and again.

True, but maybe sitting up on a high horse and proclaiming, "you clearly have too much time" while (needlessly) doing this, over and over and over, doesn't help ones (non-)point ;)

Anyway.. BACK ON TOPIC?

It will be interesting to see come 2.4--->3, what this does not just as regards say KB, but indeed other folks who have left ED due to the direction it's taken over the past year or two...

Going to be an interesting 6-12 months I guess...

It is indeed interesting what direction FD will take, I think for many commanders next few updates will be stay or move to other games. I`m also very curious about new update model (dropping the whole season thing).
First good sign for me was that FD told us they will star with core gameplay and QoL improvements. Staying positive so far.

As said above, people have left the game for various reasons and many of them didn't leave for the same reasons random guy Kornelius left.

Proclaiming "random guy x left the game, this is proof that Frontier needs to y" is very short sighted and doesn't achieve anything for those who are unhappy for other reasons. This thread has a very annoying agenda and the creator and participants could have the decency to just say whatever they expect personally for their very subjective enjoyment instead of trying to create some objective truth by misusing some wanna be YouTube star. That's the reason I try to make fun of it.

If you want to be YT star ED is the last game you should choose for your channel. Why ppl dont like the fact that some member of community like to share interesting vids about the game we all enjoy? Whats wrong with making Elite dangerous content on youtube?

I don't have a problem with Kornelius (I absolutely don't care for YouTube), I have a problem with the way people are trying to tell me how "important" he is. Maybe I should have said I don't think he wants to be a YouTube star, but the people in this thread want him to be one (to strengthen their argument).

Agreed... But let's consider two things maybe?

KB (seemingly) left the game end of last year - Or that's what you can take from the fact that's when he stopped his ED videos. So it not a recent thing. I recall talking to Obsidian Ant a number of months ago about it if I recall.

So onto timing - As I've said a number of times on this thread, I think we're hitting a bit of a "moment" with the game. 2.5 yrs in and approaching not the end of the first season, but the second, so maybe players feel they have a track record to judge... And I'd say I've never seen the forums so negative... So I think a high profile supporter/player giving up with the game possibly underlines this current growing feeling.

And as I've also mentioned earlier, with this growing "feeling" in the community (if you accept there is one), I see it as no coincidence that FD now commit themselves to core improvements... Which I dearly hope are some solid deep improvements and not just simplistic bolt ons... Else I don't see it helping...

Elite is and will be ever evolving and developing. Some will be able to hold on for the ride, some will not.

Agreed.

Youtubers come, Youtubers go.
Some I like, some I don't,
Some of them never breath during the video and give me a headache, some of them are zen and soothing to the ear.

I don't think one Youtuber leaving Elite makes a winter.

I think we're hitting a bit of a "moment" with the game.

If the forums are to be believed, we've been in a "moment" for the 2.5 years that the game has been out...

I just look at the competition for this kind of game, and that convinces me that I really have nothing to be concerned about. :) And the fact that after the hundreds of hours I've already played, I still want to play. I don't have that with any other game. I have literally hundreds of games spread across several consoles and PC, and E: D is the only one that I have consistently (note, not constantly) played over the last couple of years. I fully expect this to continue over the next few years.

You and I know that's a fairly "open" comment.

Has mining evolved and deepened over the past two years? Not really... And certainly not to anything approaching a significant step? And likewise with exploration* and many of the other core profressions etc.

And then, we get onto what has been given development time. I'd suggest many players would question if development time spend on Powerplay, CQC, The Engineers and Multi-Crew gave the best bang for buck. Or indeed if the designs themselves achieved the best outcome for the game?

Again, given the time/stage we're at, I feel the community is weighing all this up...

* Plantetary Landing was obviously a great technical addition. And TBH one of the few additions I think moved the game truly forwards.

I disagree. I think this year there's been a distinct change in general tone towards the more negative. ie: As if a growing number of players are a bit worried/unhappy with the track record.

And I see FDs recent commitment to improve core mechanics as maybe a bit of an acceptance of this?
