From what I understand, all platforms share the same BGS. Seeing that the Elite Ecosystem is about 1% discovered, I suspect you can make money. At what rate, I'm not sure. I would think one would need to grind some missions to pay for the fun of exploration. I look at exploration as a hobby in game.

I wouldn't worry about this. Space is big. Very big. Not even 0.001% has been discovered. With the payouts, never been a better time to explore.

One discovers what one looks for.

One other thing to remember is that you still get exploration data payouts for systems that others have discovered, if those systems are new to you. There is a First Discovery bonus, but you can make a decent amount by scanning everything as you travel. For example I travelled to a CG out in the California Nebula in a loaded-with-goods Python. I earned a couple of hundred thousand credits from the CG, but a couple of million from the exploration data I got from the single round trip.

If you guys go to their Twitch channel, you should be able to watch past broadcasts there too right when live stream ends, just click the videos tab
