It's not hostile it's curiosity. Of course it's very subjective and in that situation I would feel threatened myself but with the unknown ships it's was only a little minor probing. We should thank the gods they didn't beam anyone aboard for part two

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of RP, if I were really there I would consider it a hostile action. FDev could have any number of things up their sleeves. If I was there for real I would crap myself. You are totally defenseless. But they did not do anything overtly violent they just "looked". If all they ever do is look then that's just annoying. But of course that's never gonna happen. Now they have scanned our vessels they are aware that we are no match for them. If this is the Thargoids, given humanities history and it's genocidal dealings with them they should immediately go on the offensive.

apparently when jed written his book he refused to pay pew for the trip to the twins, so pew took him to court and got half the book right as payment. but because jed lied in the book he and pew were liable for damages, pew paid the fine but jed has to work off his half as communications officer on pew ships until the dept is paid.

To me it seems the Thargoids don't care enough about us to bother attacking. They rip you out of witchspace and "probe" you, suck their stuff out of the barnacles and then just slowly fly off. They couldn't care less about us humans at the moment.
exactly so the question still stands why if they are not bothered by run of the mill commercial ships, would they attack the fed navy? especially considering they probably know we are not a threat at the moment, and also considering some player groups are of the fire first ask the questions later and having as much effect as snowballs on the sun. it still doesn't make sense, i feel everyone is missing something.
another question to add is this: if no one had seen the research that the feds had, how did who ever left the probe saying Thargoids return, know they were thargoids in the first place.

It's definitely a hell of a mystery. I'm guess barnacles are some kind of fuel source, probing pilot/ships is a know thy enemy scenario. Time will tell.
It was my understanding the virus attacked Thargoids Hyper Drive Tech not the species?
this is true it did infect the hyperdrives, but an unforeseen effect was it effected the thargoids as a species as well.
I agree The Thargoids my have not even ripped the ship from witch space or disabled the ship. Their hyper drive my emit some kind of EMP effect? They could have stopped to repair the damage boomed the loud a goodbye and the ship powers comes back up as in the first encounters. The Feds want their tech to fuel the military war machine they will do anything to get it even attacking first ask questions later. The Feds could have destroyed the ships themselves to gain support. There is so much Information we do not know. However not being on equal standing leaves us at their mercy and they have the power to rule us regardless of what we wish. Its going to take time to find answers if we ever do at all!!
i don't think the feds or imps are big players in this, and the alliance just want to talk peace (piggin' hippies). i actually believe there is a 4th shadowy superpower out there pulling strings and playing every side against each other, and the thargoids just happen to be the Lee Harvey Oswald of the galaxy.
Rest assured the M.S.R might be late to the party and might not have the resources of the cannon biscuit brigade, but we will hunt out every bit of gossip, rumor, scuttlebutt and information to find the truth.
So it was a pathological virus? Do they have living tech for hyperdrives? Or did a code virus attack machines needed for life support on their home planet? Or are the Thargoids part Machine? One answer always brings up many more questions.
it was a virus that attacked the organic plastic components of the thargoid hyper drives, but from what little information there is, it seems that a side effect was that the Mycoid Virus started to attack the thargoids as well as the hyper drives. which then passed it on to there home systems which destroyed much of the thargoids, those that survived fled from human space until now. would be good to know if there is any information still around about I.N.R.A or any groups that had dealings with them, and also how come the Pilots federation have stayed quiet during this time of panic.

sorry but all the evidence so only shows 2 possible events,
1) what everyone believes happened actually happened and the thargoids are evil and finally attacking military.
or
2) Feds and Imps have no idea whats going and are blaming attacks on the "thargoids", but the thargoids are being used as scapegoats while some other interested party (4th superpower/secret group) is behind everything.
problem with option 1 is that it is to clean and obvious, and then you have 2 which when you look at it the only major group to gain anything from a fed/imp/thargoid war is the alliance, especially when the alliance has talked about peaceful solutions to a problem majority of galaxy wants to fight/ defend against with weapons. which then brings the alliance in the mix, which then leaves a power vacuum. while everyone else fights amongst themselves, the 4th Major group jump in and take control for the "GREATER GOOD"

#2 reminds me of the events prior to and after the Boston parade incidents, Sandy Hook, incident, America's 911 incident, the 1941 Pearl Harbor incident, Kennedy's assination etc. etc. etc. Nothing is beyond reproach when it comes to what is today referred to as "In the interest of National Security". Pollitics makes for some strange bedfellows.
exactly with everything we know about this crazy galaxy we are about to join, i doubt everything is as clean cut as everyone wants to believe. plus FDev are sneaky, and wouldn't got to all this trouble of a slow reveal to not have a major plot twist.

just an opinion, and nothing more until more evidence is revealed. and i mean actual first hand accounts of a thargoid attack, not just a few wrecks and a planted beacon.
