From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

say what... link please i think i missed something.

Are the god rolls gone? if so... great imo, tho i feel sorry for the legitimate god ships... but it is hard to argue they are bad for the game imo

OR

are cheaters really complaining that FD have taken more than just the cheat rolls and not left a possible legit roll? if so, wow that is some hard face right there!.

be glad they were not permanent shadowbanned or barred from engineers

Now I want to make a poll with options like:
  • My little brother/sister/hamster was using my account
  • My account was hacked
  • Yeah, I'm just an exploiter, deal with it
  • Here are screenshots of all my modules I made before the exploit was possible
  • There I was all naked cleaning the windows when I fell and accidentally right on the exploit

Its punishment. Be happy you can still play the game, many other companies would have banned your account and all alt accounts used from same computer. Just removing all engineered modules is the lowest punishments Frontier could choose. This is the best for the game and PVP community.

@OP - OP when you say 'lot' can you clarify please because we've had some members of the PVP community telling all insundry that this was just a handful of 13th Legion members, clarification appreciated.

Scroll up a bit to the screen shot that CMDR Nutter posted in post #31.

The wording of the announcement posted on reddit says that people who rolled "a number" of times are being punished. Those who tried it once and said "oh yeah it's true" may have got away with. Lucky for them.

The announcement also says that Frontier are choosing to remove all modules from blueprints that people cheated with. Don't be so sure they can't target specific modules. Perhaps they don't want to. And why indeed should they make extra work for themselves?

You cheated, you are punished. Good.

I wonder how many of the top tier pvpers who swear they never used it will be out of the limelight for a few weeks.

i suppose we will never know for sure who were caught or not.

Do the crime, ye do the time. If ye cant handle the time, then dont do the crime.

Be thankful its frontier...others here would have shown ye the door without even the possibility of appeal. At least this way, ye have the choice of using the door yerself as opposed to being shown where it is.

Even if ye did it once out of curiosity, ye feel yer being picked on? Id say thats just the right strength of response needed to get the message across...I mean on hindsight, would ye have cheated in the first place if ye knew this was gonna happen? Your pain and anguish is exactly what many here wanted to see, including me, so save yer salt fer the game and take yer punishment like a grown up and be thankful yer getting off lightly imo ^

Indeed Mike and you can be sure if that announcement was about combat loggers there would be 5 or 6 of them all over this thread like a rash already.

So just to be clear, if you have an amazing roll on a module but never used the exploit you're ok? As in, some exploiters used this but also had genuine rolls too that have now been wiped?

Or is it just aimed at suspiciously good modules? Or amount of suspiciously good modules?

I have always taken rolls near the top end as I'm not too fussy, but there are a minority of players who will go out and get 200+ of the 3 mats required so they get the perfect God roll.

Are they getting punished too?

Why don't you ask Rockstar what they do to cheaters in GTA Online...

First offence Character Reset
Second offence - perma ban.

They got off lightly.

I think they have the necessary logs to pin point exactly who and when used the broken rolls. You should be safe. I had a few really fantastic rolls on some modules and everything's fine on my side.

I'd be interested to see frontier publishing the number of players who they identified as using the exploit, not their names or anything, just give us an idea of how widespread it really was before they shut it down. I just wonder how justified the rampant paranoia that tainted every PVP encounter for the last few weeks was.

They are looking for people that specifically glitched the engineers screen in the middle of a roll to get top tier engineered parts with bottom end mats for the process. They'll be able to track this through the cheaters record on the server.
