FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

So just to be clear, if you have an amazing roll on a module but never used the exploit you're ok? As in, some exploiters used this but also had genuine rolls too that have now been wiped?

Or is it just aimed at suspiciously good modules? Or amount of suspiciously good modules?

I have always taken rolls near the top end as I'm not too fussy, but there are a minority of players who will go out and get 200+ of the 3 mats required so they get the perfect God roll.

Are they getting punished too?

I'm speculating, but I think FDev have found a way to identify players that got G5 upgrades for the cost of G1 mats.

If FD makes an official statement about this, CHAMPAGNE AND CHEESE FOR EVERYONE !

That would be handy. No message in game so OP's comment of "lots" of players being punished seems a little over the top. And as this came from Reddit, not sure whether to believe in the first place. Not like I want to rub salt into any cheat's wounds or anything, just a little suspicious...

I'd be interested to see frontier publishing the number of players who they identified as using the exploit, not their names or anything, just give us an idea of how widespread it really was before they shut it down. I just wonder how justified the rampant paranoia that tainted every PVP encounter for the last few weeks was.

I know they Won't publish the numbers But i would like to see them all the same

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

Don't cheat, then.

good job, frontier! thought you wouldn't do anything, but you up and surprised. here, have a coin

Check the screen shot in post #31 by Commander Nutter. Could be fake but...

Don't worry, this will hit them in the wallets for sure. They don't do anything about combat loggers. They don't do anything about people who used cheats in open play PvP (I still see people in open I know 100% used to use shield hacks) but people use an exploit to lessen the garbage engineer grind and they finally decide this is the time to take a stand?

Just about everyone I have talked to is walking away from the game now. This will hurt everyone, including the non-PvP crowd.

Enjoy the emptiness of open play because a large portion of the players who frequent open are quitting.

They may have upset some commanders but it is also fairly obvious that they made a lot of people very happy.

Odd that.

:)

Absolutely agreed...in fact I propose that the saltiest among us give frontier a 48 hour ceasefire on the salt. Hey they made me happy and Im one the most miserable here...but today is a very good day indeed. Just gonna nip to the cash n carry to stock up on popcorn fer what happens next...still got the pepperami boys to look forward to as well...good good ^

Thanks frontier...the salt shall recommence after the weekend ^

To be perfectly honest, so what?

The cheaters leave? Good riddance.

My opinion (see my signature for details) is that the game will be better of without the cheaters in it and at least they got to walk away and not thrown out as some people would have preferred.

As for numbers? Personally I doubt that it will make much difference at all, but that's just a guess.

No problem, the game doesn't need scum anyway, oh, and by the way, we were told only very few had expkoited, can you explain to me why now, in your eyes, virtually all the PVP folk are walking? Is it, a) hyperbolic crap, b) we were lied to about the extent by cheats or c) you are just screaming 'waaaah' my modules'?

Since a very huge amount of the playerbase don´t play in Open I would say: Nobody cares. Nothing will happen. Absolutely nothing.

Why don't you ask Rockstar what they do to cheaters in GTA Online...

First offence Character Reset
Second offence - perma ban.

They got off lightly.

First offence...a month in the sin bin...second offence, complete loss of everything ever achieved ingame, bit like wiping a save although yer still not perma banned...thats a third strike offence not second although it depended on the severity. Get caught using modded servers and its an instant ban of both yer game account and possibly yer microsoft account as well ^

As many know other game companies will very often give much stronger punitive punishment for exploiting/cheating call it what you will.

I'd say Frontier have been very lenient with the action taken and those who did exploit should be thankful they are still able to play the game.
