If you all praise fdew for punishing cheaters and removing the cheated stuff, will you still be cheering when all the sothis/ceos/quince money is removed?

By punishing cheaters they are only fighting the symptoms. Why was this exploit so popular? Why are the money exploits so popular? Because this game is an awful grind. This exploit kinda fixed it.

I don't disagree with punishing cheaters, but please frontier, think about whats causing all of this.

OK, so THEY cheated and now you're shedding salt on their behalf. And what has this outpouring of derision shown you? That the degree of support for this action far outweighs the degree of condemnation. I doubt FD is going to suffer from this at all.

Problem is, you make a thread making out like FD have done a bad thing here in relation to punishing cheaters, people are going to assume you did cheat, no matter what protestations you make.

If the thread has gone in a direction you are not happy with, you can always request us to lock it.

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

Frontier have taken absolutely the right course of action to punish this way, so think harder next time before you decide to cheat.

Really you think people who cheated being punished is too much??? Well let's get it straight they broke the rules and not by accident they DELIBERATELY went out of their way to use an in game exploit to gain a huge advantage over other players. Not only did they do it willingly but they did it repeatedly for a long period of time so excuse me if I feel NO SYMPATHY what so ever in fact I'm going to go laugh a little bit harder and a little bit longer knowing they're so upset. No shnikies they cheated, geniuses. I don't much like cheaters any more than you guys do. Though to be fair I did kind of go straight to the forums after seeing initial reports because in my mind I'm thinking "Well these god rolls are suspect, and if mine even approaches those the month I spent grinding for my FAS to be fully engineered was all for nothing."

I still think it was handled rather clumsily though... and the loss of just a G5 dirty drive would make anyone ragequit.

You will find a pretty severe lack of sympathy for people who have been hit by this. Punishment is supposed to be a deterrent and unpleasant, This is a game where you get killed over parking fines, a meta punishment like this is pretty fitting.

Sure there are other exploits unpunished but they are more difficult to detect and fix, this is easy so they did the business, tbh I think they were pretty lenient. They could have stripped all modules, personally I would have changed them all to have super negative stats to add salt to the wound but I'm malicious and FD are clearly trying to be fair.

I hope there aren't any cases of those who didn't cheat losing mods. I'm a long way from the engineers and I didn't even know the cheat existed. Would hate to log on and find I have all normal modules.
