This topic is about how serial Engineer cheaters got what they needed. If you want FD to act on combat logging or anything else you consider to be unfair, I suggest you take it up with them. I have no power or influence over their decision-making processes.

Listen, you guys have a valid point - to a degree - but you know this is a peer2peer game, you know the problems that brings with regards to combat logging etc. You also know that a player that exploits their wat to 1 billion credits would DEFINITELY have got there anyway, the same cannot be said of the engineer exploit. Check out Ziljan's excellent thread in the Engineers sub forum, it illustrates more than I ever could how different types of exploits are and how, quite rightly, they should not be treated as equals by this developer or any other.

This is the same cheat as RNG exploit, evern worse. Its exploiting game mechanic.

The RNG exploit was actually circumventing mechanics not using intended mechanics, the concern has been raised several times over the years and those that have fully capitalised on it are not truly cheats in any sense of the term.

Now if you targetted all the CZ kill N of X stackers you would probably be covering a much bigger and more deserving audience IMO.

Overall though, where any form of mission stacking is concerned - providing you are not deliberately circumventing mechanics so you have to pay or do less than the mechanics at the time mean you to (c/f the modules cheat) then it is not a true cheat. Relogging is not anywhere near the same class of concern, and for the record I do not relog personally - I prefer to rely on normal mission spawning mechanics but I do not hold anything against those that do use reclogging (it is not a completely penalty free activity).

It sounds more to me like you are sore about being caught with your hands in the cookie jar despite gaining nothing from it... too bad, but no-one forced you to try to cheat.

However the developers have explicitly stated, on more than one occasion, that is not an exploit. It was a design decision, there were some bugs, most have been squished, and they are always reviewing design decisions.

Except it isn't because the point stands that not all exploits are equal, no matter how much you attempt to distract and divert the conversation or pretend to yourself that they are, the point also stands that Frontier have removed some cheat modules from the game before seriously addressing any of the minor exploits you have taken up as your banner.

So true. If the exploits are out there for everyone to know, then it's at least fair in the sense that anyone can exploit them. But when they're kept secret, from the community as well as Frontier, then the ulterior motive is of course to gain and keep a superior advantage over the non-initiated. And THAT hurts the game a lot more than anything else.

Pardon my ignorance but from what I gathered reading some posts randomly, the cheat seems to be related to rolls? I would imagine rolls that you do at an engineer? What is the cheat? And how did cheaters benefited from it?

"I jumped the gun and posted this believing that any roll viewed as "suspect" would be targeted. I didn't spend a month dedicated to engineering my FAS in all aspects to have it dedicated over a false positive, you know. Most SDC members are saying they'll quite until 'FD fixes the game'. Turns out the 'just work hard and git gud like us' folks really are as pathetic as they seemed. Its particularly cool to see how they cant even fathom flying with a non-godrolled G5 engine. The difference between a great 30% and a cheated 37% in a fdl with 2pips to engine? 19m/s and 3degrees per second pitch. Nothing actual 'git gud skill' cant compensate for.

In short, it was a way of doing a G5 roll but only spending G1 materials.
