FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

Actually - you DO sound a bit upset. Isn't this a moment to rejoice? FD have taken steps to enforce rules. I think that should make us be a bit more optimistic about how they handle rule breaking.
No I don't believe it is. This morning when I found out I was legitimately in tears of laughter at the expense of certain individuals. I think the punishment dealt was a good way to do it. But by no means is this a reflection of how they handle things on the whole. This is one instance of them getting something right. They've been getting something else wrong for a very very long time, and a lot of people are sick of it.

I did around 300 exploited rolls and never accepted them, because they was worst than i got. I lost all thrusters on all ships.
I did to see how it is working jhust after 13'th revelated.

i will roll them again in month.

However i am happy FDev did that action
, exploiters got stocked, and has been done what should be done since the beginning.

Congrats to FDev!

I have hope they will remove relogged ranks and credits in quince/robigo/ceos.

So...i've read on reddit that apparently pretty much every major PVP groups are leaving the game, due to the lack of motivation to legit reroll their ship.

Meaning that "pretty much" every major PVP groups were involved in this. Interesting.

If this is true, I'm going to laugh so hard.

Back in my Allegiance days, it was the "bad boy" squadrons who had the most people who would use every lag hack and exploit they could get away with. Luckily we managed to keep the sploits to a minimum, but I recognize the type. Stacking games in their favour every which way to inflate their kills / ejects and ELO stats with easy wins.

I'm not at all surprised if the same type of people bail on Elite when they'd have to fight on an even footing :D

Indeed Adept, I look forward with anticipation to the day one or more of the more vocal ones, (interestingly largely absent today), has the meatsteaks to post here again and not in their Reddit 'safe space'. You know the ones I mean, those that pretended to have the moral high ground because everyone else just needed to 'git gud', when what they meant was 'cheat to compete' or 'man up'. I look forward to them telling us it is 'only pretend spaceships' when they blow us up for no reason so we can remind them of their quit threats over 'pretend cheat module pixels'.

I look forward to that day, will it ever come? - I don't know and doubt it, but I hope it does.

I see little point, those are not actual cheats but part of the game mechanics.... unlike the G1-G5 material cheat which was a deliberate attempt to gain benefits for lower costs than the mechanics were ever meant to allow.

Relogging costs reputation advancement by the way, so it is not all one sided - it is annoying when you lose rank advancement for simply reclogging after a match making server failure or networking fault.

In Medium and smaller ships it is unnecessary and counter productive since flying between stations can reset the mission boards.

In addition, relogging is merely a (borderline) time saver in the main, the credits gained from such practices do not give any tangible advantages.... unlike the module cheats.

This is the same cheat as RNG exploit, evern worse. Its exploiting game mechanic.

In fact i can agree to reset my account and start from zero, IF frontier will decide to patch relogging issue.

What sense does this make? It means they're all on the same footing with all the other exploiters and after a few quick rolls will be close enough to on par with every NON exploiter out there. Yeesh.

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

[EDIT] Since some people would rather not actually read the thread and see that I attempted to clarify, I might as well add this in. I jumped the gun and posted this believing that any roll viewed as "suspect" would be targeted. I didn't spend a month dedicated to engineering my FAS in all aspects to have it dedicated over a false positive, you know. But obviously as more information has come out it seems FDev have a way of actually tracking these things, so... I tried admitting to the mistake, but nobody's actually READING the thread.

Y'all really like to resort to immediate derision and vitriol to any opinion you don't like though, do you? What a nice bunch you are. :p

Good. I hope they are upset enough to quit. Cheaters are pathetic and are not welcome in any reasonable community. :)

Do you know what all the posts like this one and the various others in other threads scream to me?
They scream, 'look over here, don't look at this'.

Listen, you guys have a valid point - to a degree - but you know this is a peer2peer game, you know the problems that brings with regards to combat logging etc. You also know that a player that exploits their wat to 1 billion credits would DEFINITELY have got there anyway, the same cannot be said of the engineer exploit. Check out Ziljan's excellent thread in the Engineers sub forum, it illustrates more than I ever could how different types of exploits are and how, quite rightly, they should not be treated as equals by this developer or any other.

Out of all people, only you and I came clean? Did exactly the same thing (although I did only 10-15 rolls) for the same reason, suffered the same but anyways both came here to congratulate FD?

A strange day. YOu and I had numerous clashes here on the forum, but when it's due, it's due - I'm giving you +1 rep.

(I gave rep to Kyokushin... a strange day indeed)

Because this is the official thread to complain about combat logging.

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

And people also lie, so basing punishment on such reports is not necessarily the best way to go about it. Besides which what they witnessed and reported may not have been a combat log but something else and that's the main problem. Reliable determination of a combat log.

Waitwut?

PVP Pro-Bros actually announced they were quitting the game over this!?!?

Where? Oh I need to see that!

Don't get your hopes up...

Not that I'd miss them, but they'll throw their temporary tantrums and return after a while.

Prove me wrong, cheaters! :D
