Another reason why Frontier cares about the community - Joint tagging.

For anyone who's done it, they'll know that when you double or even triple tag an astronomical body to get joint first discovered tags, it doesn't always work out.

In maybe 60-70% of cases all will be fine, but in those other cases not so.

The biggest factor seems to be whoever hands in the data first is more likely to get a singular first discovered tag (if the double tag doesn't show up).
It's taken as a given that you be in the same instance and within scanning range of the body involved, and in a wing.

I originally thought that being the wing leader might also have an effect, but I don't think it does.

Anyway I have a list of 98 ELW's that were joint scanned and the first discovered tag was only awarded to a single commander (me mostly, so maybe the commander name has an effect lol).

I submitted the list to Frontier and within 2 days of me sending it, they've updated all the first discovered tags to show correctly (for anyone whose interested here it is):

https://drive.wps.com/preview#l/8caf3c1472744fc6aabacc42180a773b

the entries in yellow fill haven't yet been submitted to Marx, the ones with orange fill are missing my tag and the ones with no fill are missing Chiggy's tag.

Thank you Frontier :)

Nice. A friend and I tried this out over a month ago, and couldn't make it work properly at all. Even just scanning the bodies was inconsistent, sometimes locking one of the wing members out of being able to scan anything in the system at all, depending on which one of us arrived first. Discovery tags all went to one person. After trying it out for a couple of hours, we gave up on it.

When one of you are unable to scan you both need to log out and then back in, re-form wing and you'll be fine

I barely touched the mail slot when farming the LYR bonus and got killed for some unknown reasons (2kMJ shields). Made a ticket and my exploration data was given back (about 500m after bonus). So very much appreciated.

Many a racer can tell you there is a spot on the inside top (assuming you have greens on the right when entering the slot) where, even if you barely scrape it, you die.

I have a video of it happening, but that one I was actually going pretty fast (but there is very little apparent contact... it' just looks like I hit an invisible wall).. That said, I've seen MUCH more egregoous examples which I didn't catch on video, and I've seen video from a number of Commanders of similar incidents where even very low-speed hits there were fatal. It's odd.

I've always assumed it is some glitch in the geometry, and testing it out with a Sidewinder is on my list of "things to do when I get bored".
