No further PSVR announcements.

... Ever? Is this confirming that you'll no longer be looking into adding PSVR support?

That'll be a real shame if true.

I know, agreed. but as I have said on other threads, I'm not to sure the base ps4,or maybe even the pro could handle this game in VR. it could run it, but I wouldn't want a watered down vr expierence just because, the tech is there. I feel its a wee bit like playing in the 80,s shinobi, double dragon and final fight in the arcades after school then going home to play it on your zx spectrum, its the same game, but not quite the same. I know it wouldn't be as stark as that but its just for reference of how I think the game would be dumbed down in other areas to make it run

That was my reaction too. Then I thought, did Ed just mean no announcement would be made in the stream, prior to launch? Perhaps Ed could clarify that point? Because if he just meant nothing to announce right now, it still offers the possibility of something happening in the future (as with 4K, likely later in the year). Ok, Mr Lewis - over to you! ;)

Ever since the dispute over the launching of NMS and the hype by it's throng as well as it's creator. The industry has been retraining their spokes persons to talk like Sean Murray and or their local elected officials in regards to answering questions. The bottom line is Yes, everything you want is gonna be involved in the game. Though you may have to wait an underminable amount of time. But, it was a good question, thank you. Next question please.

The party line on PSVR has been the same since it first came up as far as I'm aware, there is no announcement. I take that as a definitive 'not being definitive'.

There have been some positive vibes on it before so my assumption is that FDev would very much like to do it, probably are doing it/have something running on it, but aren't ready to put their eggs in a basket just yet for whatever reason (maybe with the tech/performance, issues with Pro vs Standard legislation, maybe even pressure from MS given the timed exclusivity on Xbox, etc... who knows). Plus, in this post-NMS world, anything they do hint at now will get thrown back hard if it never happens (with a sprinkle of salt).

I really hope it does happen though, it would probably force my hand into a Pro + PSVR purchase if it ran well enough. [up] Maybe if anything comes out of the ongoing Xbox One X + Oculus gossip there will be something more to say about it all in a year or so.

Us pc-cmdrs have some experience with 'FD Talk'. 'No further announcements' is good news. Unlike many other companies, their Q&A's are widely known to be... depressing. They dont seem to feel pressured into promising a lot, and often answer a whole string of questions with "probably not, nice idea but unlikely, absolutely not, very unlikely, would have been great but no' etc. Generally they only say something positive when they really know its gonna pan out.

VR on PS4 is gonna be tough. Computers that handle ED in VR well (mostly 90FPS but some dips) in high settings can run it in 2D at Ultra-Uber_Settings at constant 144FPS no problem. In VR, text isn't easy to read. With the PS4pro likely to be unable to keep a solid 60FPS at very high settings, 'normal' VR seems very difficult to pull off. Which is in VR means 'projectile vomit'. :p
