The problem with the new C&P improvements

Because it's annoying to jump out-in-out-in. Also PVP ships don't carry fuel scoops and many times have undersized fuel tanks and FSDs, and the CG station can be far away from the system entry point.

I don't feel it should be changed just to make 'duelling' slightly easier; it's not a huge burden to arrange the duel next door and removing the ability to toggle it @ will would remove some possible underhand open play shenanigans which I feel add ,not detract from the whole.

Threads like that are the reasons why weekly DevUpdates have stopped. 99 % Speculation without knowing facts, relying on 3rd person info and a clickbait-title "Why they f...ed it up" without even having seen the result of their developement.

Wow.

*shakes head*

There is no speculation, all of what I'm explaining is already a reality and is already happening. The only reason why there wasn't that much complaining yet is because the C&P was weak until now.

This is not a "Open shennannigan", this is abuse of a hole in the game mechanics.

I don't think there's anything wrong with speculation, I agree the 'glass half empty' attitude is a little tiresome, but I have bad days too so I try to look past that.

Uh, maybe I think too much like an engineer, but would "if ships already exchanged shots, then ignore report toggle" be too simple?

As for "being lured into shooting first", well, that's right. If you can't control your trigger, what happens next is your fault. Just don't shoot.

Because some player groups insist on steering FD instead of giving good, constructive feedback on all facts. Instead all what is done is everything is viewed 'we will exploit this and this is why it won't work' lenses.

That's also reason why I give zero nuts about what they are going on about.

Also it seems none of them gives nuts about in-game PvP. All their care about is 'agreed PvP'.

This dude gets it and lol @ some of u suggesting he's a solo hypocrite, some of us know better.

The confusion is understandable, I've only been defending the (sometimes borderline indefensible) actions of various unsavoury groups in Open in the name of depth, freedom of choice and not neutering what little emergent gameplay and multiplayer drama the game allows for two years and a half now, on top of being a pirate and playing almost exclusively in open :p

It's not 'abusing mechanics' its lying in game about not calling the cops, which I would call 'underhand rat roleplay'.

Alternatively, move the report crimes toggle to the power authority tab of stations ('Disconnect from Crime Database' or whatever).

Simple, elegant, works with RP/Lore ... I LOVE IT!

If Frontier combine your suggestion with the OP's suggestion of other Cmdrs being able to see whether RC is off or on within the basic scan, this is a problem solved.

Because you're on XBOX. You're an outsider.

Also hulltanks can't carry fuel scoops, and you can't force them to because it'd cripple them.

Hmm. Adapt or quit maybe? Rather than thinking about reasons why you can't do something, find a way to achieve your aim. You are good at playing the system, do it here :)

And reduces depth & choice. I'd rather have the dilemma of not knowing.

Wow.. the anger in this thread is strong with the 'CG is for PvP' crowd :D

Top tip... this game was never about indiscriminately killing other players. Never. Legitimate bounty hunting, mutually agreed duels and piracy (preferably without ship destruction) are all good uses for PvP.

Not 'I wanna kill people.. so I will. Because duh, Dangerous!' - The only people who decided that's what it is all about are those who decided that's what it is. Which it isn't.

If someone has a nice juicy bounty, they're fair game, because THAT'S WHAT BOUNTIES ARE FOR. If I don't have a bounty, and I'm not carrying anything of interest, and I'm not PP flagged, and I'm not waving an Imperial flag from the back of my Cutter... then you have absolutely no legitimate reason to attack me.

Yet the same people who are (predictably) complaining about the new changes, would have us believe that Open = PvP.

I sorely hope the new C&P changes punish those who would attack me for no reason whatsoever get hit very, very hard.

Oh and I heard the ridiculous argument that Hutton Truckers are a minority, so why are they not being targeted for having their game ruined?

Not sure I remember a Hutton Trucker ganking someone. Unless they got in their way I suppose...

Grow up, adapt, or go play CoD - that's more your gamestyle.

As much as I usually respect your opinion silver I still say no. I want the ability to lie in a duel; surely that adds more possibilities/tension then not being able to? Do I trust this dude enough to duel him or will it cost me dearly if he cons me, could lead to some career long rivalries and disputes. But maybe that's just me.

Complete SWING AND MISS, I'm talking purely about consensual PVP, please go cry about gankers somewhere else.
