Solo - worthy experience?

Hello, I'm desperately waiting for the game launch and yet have some doubt.
I don't have enough money to spend on PS Plus, and now I'm worried if this game has full potential in Solo mode.
Like, can I still participate in massive space battles , get kicked by NPCs and just be entertained? [where is it]

Not sure about the massive bit, but you'll get to play in combat zones, which can include capital ships, and those are fun in any mode. As for the rest, solo is as valid a mode as any other, though you will be missing out the chance of playing with other commanders. Saying that you'll definitely miss out of any griefing, so that could be considered a plus. Also, as the background simulation connects all players, no matter the platform they run the game on or mode they play in, you won't be missing out in affecting the galaxy.

If you can play in open I would suggest you do. Some of the best in-game times I've had have been due to interactions with other players, either in a massive convoy or racing across the surface of a moon between two settlements, or just chatting while visiting the ancient ruins / waiting for the Thargoids to make an appearance at a Barnacle. But if not, don't worry, the game is good enough you should enjoy it even in solo. (all in my 'humble' opinion of course<g>)

You can still take part in everything the game has to offer from a Gameplay perspective, you just want be able to interact with any human players

It's still fun, and when hauling cargo you'll still get NPC trying to interdict you

i wad dead against solo play when it was originally proposed for PC. Ended up playing solo around 75% of my time on PC. There really isnt much you're missing if you choose to play solo. Nothing good at least...

Try it and see. Certainly don't splash out on anything you can't afford just yet. You have plenty of time to explore the options.

Considering how big space is, odds are you'll be playing "solo" most of the time even while playing in Open. Personally, if I didn't have PS+, I wouldn't buy it just for this game unless I had mates who were committed to wing up with me on a regular basis. But I also didn't rush out and buy a PS4 Pro, HOTAS, and 4K TV for this game, so that tells you something about my spending habits ;)

I have to agree with some of the other posters, unless I wing up with friends (on PC or XBOX) I can easily forget which mode I'm in.

So much so, that I think I'm going to hold off on the PS Plus online subscription right now as my friends are all on the other two platforms.

Well, I would do that also - but, being just a 16 years old kid is a bit tough time xD

I play mostly solo. It is my preferred mode.

You can go to dangerous war zones, intercept criminals in supercruise, take on missions, be surprised by an ambush in a signal source, hunt pirates in the rings of a gas giant, become a pirate yourself etc.
And don't forget this game has just 'started' being developed.
Frontier devs plan to develop this huge spacesim for years to come.
This project is totally unique. There's nothing like it.

I have been entertained for a few thousand hours now and I suspect I will be entertained for a few thousand more :).

I started on the x-Box; however, the universe is still the same. I started in Solo and ran packages until I was a long way from the starting system. I then switched to open, and eventually Mobius.

It really comes down to how you want to play.

Can you start solo, and then switch to open with the same ship and credits you have in solo mode?

Played solo for most of the time on Mac - as an explorer it makes little difference anyway, because once you are out of the bubble, the chances of seeing another player is very very slim. And upon returning to the bubble to hand in to cartographics, the last thing I need is being ganked or killed just for fun by some random (the NPC's might interdict you but won't kill you if you have no cargo and you just submit).

Its the same experience as open other than the rare times you see another player, who more often than not give you a wide berth in case you're a griefer.

Great, thank you all for the answers¡¡

Switch between modes is a great idea. That allow me to play solo and if a friend comes online, switch to open and play with him...

Of course later, when I have more experience I will play open just to encounter other people and enjoy
