just a few quick thoughts that may help to spark something
Looking at the main chamber, it reminds me of the alien series, with all the eggs. Might just be looks.
Thargoids inhabit witch space. Perhaps the main chamber shows systems in witch space that are inhabited by thargoids. Or it shows common entry points to witch space that the thargoids use. Or, as others have said, it shows systems in our galaxy that have habitable planets for thargoids.
If it were possible i would see if there is a way to overlay what the main chamber shows when activated with our own galaxy
This could also be a crash site, calling to home and sending stuff out to make the call easier.
Could be a data collection center, or something like our surface ports.
Possibly could be attempting to find ruins, if the ruins are from thargoids. All the lights shown in the galaxy thing could be locations of ruins in our galaxy. They may want to try and salvage stuff from ruins that humans are not aware of.
Based on what the ruins said, i feel like the Thargoids are the engineered warriors that the guardians created.
Thargoids are insectoids, so it may be worth while to study how insects in the real world communicate and interact and try to draw any parallels. I would not be surprised if the thargoids have a hive structures and a hive mind. Also, according to lore the majority of thargoids are female, again like many hive insects. (bees or ants anyone?) Assuming that thargoids act live hive insects, there may be 'queens' that control thargoids. Possibly one 'overlord' and then smaller controllers spread throughout the galaxy that control smaller groups. This may come in useful later when we start fighting them.
Also, i feel like the ships we've seen so far are simple multirole or fighter ships, much like an AspX or Cobra. Size wise maybe they are like anacondas, but i still feel like there are going to be larger ones and different variants out there.
Main reason for saying this is the size of what appears to be the cockpit on the US.

Looks kind of like an eye. Based on the way these things fly, i would say that this is actually at the 'front' of the ship. Rear is cargo access (some human ships have a similar setup)
I'll work on getting better pictures of US's so people can better study their structure
All of this is just what comes to mind when i see all of this.
