Better beginning.

A better start would improve immersion and RP elements for new players.

New players should be able to choose either of the 3 superpowers to begin as, or independent .

This would change start location, starting ship, and maybe give some lore background of what's going on.

Would also be nice to start players with a modest boost in reputation with chosen faction, or maybe money if independant

Jus' sayin

What with the huge learning curve newcomers already have, adding more choices on their plate may not help them. As it is a lot of players never pick sides and rank up in all of them. Having them choose sides may even confuse them more.

It's a lot more confusing to be dropped off with zero context as to what's around you.

A quick 1 minute summary of the empires and the bubble would suffice.

This would be good for new players

I'd rather have us be able to either start in either Empire, Federation or Alliance space.

Add alot more ships aswell. Hard to believe after hundreds of years, the Empire or Federation were only able to come up with just the 4 or 5 ships.
There are so much ship concept art for those two superpowers, why not bring all of those to the game and have them be que equivalente of sidewinders, adders, hauler, eagles, so on and so on.

So what if they do the same and have hardly any difference performance wise, at least we'd have some more veriety to the game, more unique looking ships!

I looking at it this way. Did you choice your parents or where you lived when you are born. No it was your parents and they choice those for you. See It don't matter the location you start at. It what you do after School and start make it your own choices.

It the same way with the game. You are at a station Given a sidewinder in some players had better ships like Eagle or Cobra. After the gift. The choice what Faction you want to be in your choice even if the station you are is a different faction.

No. I looking at You can't always get what you want. Yes I do role play and I understand where I start has no Bearing on What Faction I will join. If you have a problem the starting location do some combat at the Asteroid belt. Go buy a larger fsd or ship and move to a faction of your choice then start your Role playing. It that easy.

Except that when you start the game, your character is already a grown man/woman.
They could have been working gigs up to that point, making money for that sweet sweet sidewinder, and that last gig ended up being either Imp or Fed space and thats where they bought their first ship.

Also going by that parents logic, then a character should be randomly generated for you. You'd be given either a male or female and their appearnce would be totally random, because that's what "your parants gave you". And you'd only have the ability to change your character's hair style and tattoos...

Except that in the 34. century altering your physical appearance is probably as easy as altering your game avatar is nowadays ;)

OP, I'm not sure how your suggestion helps. When I started, I had no idea as to the different factions; actually, I'm still fuzzy on that, so I'm independent after 2 years of play.

One thing that might help would be to receive in-game emails on the comms panel, offering hints and advice for beginners.
