Has anyone bothered to check Merope 5C since the new patch? Perhaps more answers can be found there now. Also have you tried seeing if the link points to that permit locked HIP sector everyone thought had the caves on it?

What do you mean "check Merope 5C"? It's big!! I have checked out the previously reported module damage occuring at -36, 142 with no result. In case there was something but a bug occured in coding, putting the damage mechanism at the wrong place, I have also checked out 90 degree offsets, so:
-36, 142/ -36, -142/ -36, -52/ -36, 52
54, 142/ 54, -142/ 54, -52/ 54, 52
-54, 142/ -54, -142/ -54, -52/ -54,52
None of these have produced any sign of module damage to my AspX.

Edit: also overflown the rings of all the planets, nothing out of ordinary.

Individually they're not up to much, but I imagine a few thousand of them could ruin your day.

Anyone else reminded of Tremors & the *ssblasters?

Yes, that's what I meant. This most likely is from the initial hyperdiction scene. And the "mount" part is where a strange structure is located. Later, it was found out to be a flipped-over human pilot chair :)

I remember an imgur collection that shows pics from the recent barnacle events, showing the cockpit from different angles, and on some you can barely identify a grey blob that may be the pilot or not. In any case, not the milk glass of now...

Yo & thx,

Given there are Meta Alloy producing spikes at the site (at least at HIP 19026), but no Barnacles present, does that mean the Barnacles themselves do not produce meta alloys, but are 'beacons' to home in on where they are growing? Or perhaps the Barnacles are 'energy' sources/hosts to grow the spikes, but not exclusively so. Or perhaps the sites are really big and mature Barnacles.

Yup. Spent an hour myself and gave up to just go get a UL and explore the alien site.

Really need a better mechanism than "Sit around and hope for the best" to find USS like this. Have it randomly generate, but have a way to engage the game and find it. Had four USS, none of them Threat 2 degraded. On that note, since it's 2:46am and I'm getting up at 6:30am...
So to hopefully trigger the RNG, I dropped out on SC on purpose. When I went back into SC, a pirate shows up. So I have a planet where USS(0) pops up constantly, and pirates want to interdict me, but the UP is nowhere. (And this was a planet I've picked up UP before)

By the time I get the UP the whole mystery will be solved and a new mystery somewhere else will show up. LOL!

Large Wreckage Sites.

Is it fair to land on this meaning that they are ships?

A wreck isnt necessarily a ship.

wreckage
ˈrɛkɪdʒ
noun

noun: wreckage
the remains of something that has been badly damaged or destroyed.
"firemen had to cut him free from the wreckage of the car"
synonyms:wreck, debris, detritus, remainder; More

The only things at these sites that looks wrecked to me are the big skeletons/whale things that the scavengers are all over. Deteriorating, scattered about, etc. The actual thargoid parts are arranged in a spiral. Unless multiple giant thargoid ships crashed pancake flat on the ground and all their parts happened to arrange themselves in a spiral amongst the whale carcasses, I'm not convinced that the "wreckage" pertains to the thargoid structures. However, the caved in doors and the general decayed state of the inactive sites does fit in to the definition of wreckage, so who knows.

Quick question and I apologize if it's buried in the thread but we tried giving the machine the guardian relics and it didn't like it... have we tried giving it other things? Meta-Alloys...? Random tech? 3 tons of tea maybe? (Alcohol may not be a bad idea since In Vino Veritas).

you know what ?

that makes me think about a ''thargoids capital ship class'' where we can visit only the ''bridge'' session of it.

Yes, though it may only be the machine or navigation room in fact. It clearly looks like a ship that fell from the sky, circling into the ground like a screw.

What may those 4 large black structures on top be? They're different in color and somehow don't seem to fit the rest.

Yo,

or buried into the ground

Have you tried flying an SLF into the top of the building (didn't I see someone say there was a hole in the top)?

I was in there with the SRV, very scray feeling, had something from Star Wars... Thought I couldn´t get out anymore but you can drive easy out from this monster :)
