There's got to be an easy way to sell my goods

Surely, surely, there is a better way to sell my cargo than finding it in the sometimes never-ending list of commodities at the station. What's worse, if I've been carrying the cargo around for a bit, I can forget what I have, which means navigating away from station services to my own inventory computer on my ship, and back again (hassle).

Where's the simple "sell my stuff" button?

I thought selling seemed a little convoluted to begin with but thought maybe I was just missing something.. Do you have to find a station at which your goods are in demand? Im confused by this too..

Are you talking about having to scroll down the list until the items you have stock for and wanting just a "sell all" button? I'm all for a SELL ALL button especially if I have a couple different ore/minerals to sell.

It's not that difficult, if you know your going to do trading then look at the website linked above or the one I use which is Thrudds and it will tell you which items to buy and where to sell as long as you provide it with some information and it makes it really simple.

Trading is one of the easiest things to do in this game, but I do understand that trying to find the item you have in your cargo hold can be difficult in the vast sea of stuff being sold/bought at each station but the simple way to know what you have is to look as your scrolling down the list, and I believe it's the fourth column across is "Held" or something like that and as your scrolling down, you should see one of them has a number in it and that should relate to how many of said item you have in your ship.

Go for trading missions 'Deliver X to Y' instead of raw trade - then handing in the missions removes the right goods - simples! (And more profitable)

Though I avoid the 'bring me X' missions, as inevitably no-one nearby has any, or the goods are illegal :)

On the point of finding stations where your goods are in demand, go to the galaxy map, on the filters panel scroll down to the 'Trade' section and show trade routes. Below that are all the commodity categories which can be expanded to list individual products.

Select only the ones you are interested in and you will see coloured lines on the galaxy map that flow in direction, which shows the direction of trade.

This only works for systems you have been to, but you can also buy trade data.

This is the in-game method of finding trading routes, it is not as accurate as data scrapping 3rd party sites, but then again they are not in the spirit of the game, and depending on external sites is lazy IMHO.

It also looks very pretty and is definitely worth getting used to using this for hunting down locations for buying or selling:)

Could definitely do with a "your stock" column, it's a bit odd that the commodities computer will add items you have in your hold to the list, but won't actually tell you which ones that is.

Hmm i disagree here and i will explain you why.
Selling commodities at stations has influence on the factions in the system, also if you sell with profit or loss.
As soon as you get bigger cargoholds you wi buy and sell more stuff and more different stuff. If you have now some metals for your destination (refinery) but also some crop harvesters for your following destination (agriculture) and you press the "sell all" button in the refinery, you sell the crop harvesters also, for a LOSS!
If the profit from the metals is now higher than the loss from the crop harvesters you won't even notice it because you just see the overall profit (or loss).
This way you would loose money and hurt the faction in the same move.

A "sell all" button might be useful in a sidewinder, but as soon as you have a Type-6 or higher with more than 100t cargo capacity, it would be very very complicated.

Also i can't recommand it for miners, i'm used to sell all my metals at industry systems and the ore at refinery systems for max profit. But the real high profit Painit needs serious attention where to sell. You can get even in boom systems very low profit on it and you won't waste it through a lazy click button.
The commodity lists are already shortened for the specific goods of the system and station.
You will get used to it ;)

The issue isn't so much a lack of "sell all" button, it's more that the commodities interface doesn't tell you what you have in your cargo hold to sell.
If you do a few missions with rewards, or just pick up a few different things, and don't remember what you have when you go to sell then you have to exit Commodities, exit Station Services, look at your inventory panel, remember everything you have, then go back into Station Services and Commodites.
It really should just have a "your cargo" column next to the sell price in Commodities.

Erm... it does have a column that shows how much cargo you have... it's called cargo and is nestled between the Buy and Demand columns.

Yep, I noticed that after posting, LOL. That said, I have gone to stations where the market list is HUGE, so it's a bit of an "inconvenience" to scroll through such huge lists looking for my stuff to sell.

Too bad that list can't be sorted by the various headers, kinda like Mac Finder or Windows File explorer. That would be helpful in multiple ways.

I've always just scroled the list until I see a number in the 'in hold' column... It's fun when you've been out mining and have half a dozen of more different types of metal / rock in your hold :)

BTW, you don't have to exit the Station Services screen to look at your side panels, you can just flick to them like you do normally. The only caveat to that is this doesn't work on the Outfitting screen.

Holy cow- after hundreds of hours, I somehow never knew that!!! Thanks and +1. Always something to learn in this game.
