Surprise! For the thousandth time, "rare" mission rewards are borked

I didn't have trouble getting the Firmwares via base scanning. Wanted CIF, kept getting MEF. EFC still come from missions sometimes. Biotech, I haven't seen. They seem borked, but at least they're not all unobtainable.

For me it's just the opposite Wanted MEF and keep getting CIF :)

Hi all,

Yes, this is bugged again.

I know what is wrong and am working to get it back to working condition as soon as possible.

As a bonus, I'll see to getting Basic Conductors, Crystal Shards, Tempered Alloys, Heat Resistant Ceramics, and Unidentified Scan Archives removed from the reward choices (these are no longer used in any recipes and I already have clearance to remove them).

I'll also ask about making MEF a mission reward (I don't think it will be a problem, but haven't got clearance yet so no guarantees).

Thanks,
Dom

Thanks for the clarity and honesty!

Thanks for that. Is that the complete list of mats that are no longer needed for anything? Might be handy to know what I can dump :)

Hi there,

This is the complete list of mission reward materials/data which are no longer used for anything. There may be other materials elsewhere in the game that are not mission rewards.

Thanks,
Dom

I'm curious Silver - at this stage of your PvP career, what could you possibly need more CIF for? Incredibly small chance of getting better Thrusters?

Hi,

I have only one, single, fully RNGineered, max-spec ship: my Courier, which has never had a god roll (except perhaps on one gun, only).

So for me the never-ending CIF shopping list would be:

A. Better drives and power distributor for my Courier.

B. Moar long range cannons (one of my preferred weapons).

C. RNGineering up a second max-spec PvP ship, probably FdL.

D. RNGineering up a max-spec PvE ship, probably Anaconda.

But the reality is that I'll probably never get around to (C) and (D) because I can't be bothered. I'll stick to doing my non-Courier PvP in Fish Betas.

I would really like to have some god rolled drives on my Courier, though.

In all honesty, the last and only time material mission rewards were truly working IMO was Version 2.1 long long ago. Ever since 2.2 I have never again seen for example Imperial Shielding or MEF in any single mission. Unless those are meant to be found only through high grade emissions USS or data beacon scans, this has been broken like forever.

This is *GREAT* news. I guess I'll be camping my favorite Allied station soon enough!

Thank you for the reply. Good to know it's already being looked at.

I see. It's weird, I am not that much of a PvP person, yet I have 10 almost-max-engineered ships, including 3 PvP ships. Granted, very few God rolls (around 900 G5 rolls so far) (except perhaps the Thrusters of my 857 m/s combat-ready Viper), but in most cases 3-4 rolls are enough to get a 90%+ roll which is just fine. It took me 10 days to get my fully engineered PvP FdL, bulk material gathering is not that hard those days...

Sorry to be a wet blanket but those thrusters (+34.6, -7.8) are nowhere near a god roll, I'm afraid. They're nice, of course (mine are about the same) but there are guys with legit rolled +42 and a similar or lower mass multiplier. That would add 50 mps to your boost. Keep on rolling!

As to the rest, it would be really off-topic and negative for me to list (again) the very many ways in which a lot of old-time PvP-ers like me dislike the effects of RNGineering on this game, so let me just say that the motivation for guys like me to mod up multiple ships is very, very low. As an SDC Cmdr said on reddit, even with the exploit, most of them couldn't force themselves to do more than two ships - which basically says it all.

But yeah, off-topic ... so I'll just say thanks indeed as ever to Dom for his swift response to this thread!

thanks for the info Dom my friends and i were pulling our hair out running assasin missions trying to get to this stuff..... almost ran out of pirates and deserters to kill.

Ok, that's a start at least :)

Many thanks.

Not including any Thargoid or Guardian artifacts or data, which may have uses other than engineering, these are the components that have no blueprints as per Inara:

Basic Conductors
Chemical Storage Units
Compact Composites
Crystal Shards
Filament Composites
Heat Resistant Ceramics
Tempered Alloys

Of course there may be many that are personally useless to you. For example, if you are unlikely ever to need an engineered Long Range Frame Shift Interdictor, then Anomalous FSD Telemetry can be dropped as that is it's only blueprint.
