5 hours of nothing

I know this games potential is good....but I wanna just play the damn game. I don't want to have to research how to play a game and watch videos for 4 hours to know anything to do.

First off after doing some training I wanted to start playing. So started the game. Puts me in a station with missions I can't do. With missions I can do in areas I can't get to. So literally have been flying around doing jack for 5 hours. Because I have no sense of direction on what's going on no clue what map markers mean. Apparently I'm supposed to have starter missions? I dont.

I'm curious is this just me or did it happen to anyone else.

And p.s. I'm pretty sure if the game is based on traversing different planets and galaxies....I'm pretty sure they might have developed docking bays that can rotate. Just sayin

I'm not sure you understand the gravity of what you ask...

Just enjoy the learning curve Padawan - it'll keep you from worrying about what to do with your engineered 'Vette that apparently everyone has these days - after about an hour if you believe Youtube.

There is the occasional bug where the starter mission doesn't always show up, it's across all versions so you are very much not alone.

It is, however, still easy to make money for example by going to a nav beacon near the main star of a system & follow the system authorities about for a bit, scan what they do & shoot what they do after confirming that they are wanted. Shooting their targets will get you killed if you don't confirm their wanted status! You should be able to take on low level targets yourself even with the sidey as long as you pick small, low level targets. For larger or higher ranked ones you are always best to wait until the authorities or other ships are involved in the fight, then you can get the last few shots in & claim the bounty!

That should earn you enough money to upgrade your drive, which will give you the range to get to more places or even get a better ship!

The manual for 2.3 is also quite a good thing to read...

Wait, there's a "starter mission"? :eek: I just undocked, and went to a RES to farm pirates. Might have to return back to the bubble, and try this out.

To OP, you can try exiting to the Main Menu and logging in again. If you swap from Open to Solo it should refresh the mission board for a fresh batch too. Otherwise if you're at Asellus Primus you can fly to the ringed gas giant and shoot pirates with the coppers to earn money.

Since launch i've made about 29 million credits, A-rated a Cobra MK3 with engineered FSD, and looking at getting my Alioth permit for the 20% discounted AspX next. Just get out and do stuff, it's not that hard.

OP I don't think this is the game for you mate. While I have some sympathy you could have spent even a very short time on this forum before buying to realise this game doesn't hold you hand and is not easy.

Stinja, apparently there is, but I did the same as you I wonder why not everyone got this mission?

go to the market buy some commodities and sell at another station. That was the original way to make money . Or explorer and sell explorer data.

As a child, what did you do in a sandbox if and when you were the only one in it, what did you do when there were others, were you ever involved with a bullie. A sandbox game, is the same as the sandbox you played in as a child, except, there's no guardian to assit you in your endevors, you can just sit in the sand or using your imagination and or wing it with others playing in it. Or like some, cry, and go home. It's yours and only yours choice. No one in the world will be effected by your decesion but you.

I started in the training mode, spent 16 hours trying to learn how to exit supercruise correctly and deploy my landing gear. Though I managed somehow on a half dozen attempts, I wasn't able to recall just what it was I had done correctly. It seemed like it varied, I pushed the hat to long or too short of time or the wrong button or...It was never consistent, After a couple of hours I kept notes so I would know what I did vs didn't attempt. Finally giving up, I joined in on the solo mode. Took off from the dock, ventured out a few miles, turned and redocked with out any problems. For some reason the landing gear was now under my control where as it never was in training mode. I am able to leave or fall out of supercruise correctly everytime. Having to do the loop of shame only once.

I'd suggest not doing the tutorials as ED suggest, start in solo.

Stick with it OP, the training missions help but all is needed is a little exploration and practice. The learning curve got me at first and the few 3-4 hours i struggled to do much of anything whilst i got to grips with the game bar making a little bit of money to upgrade the sidey. Now even after only 8 hours of game play I have gotten to grips with the games mechanics and I have sold my Adder for a Viper MKIV, so stick with it and you will get there soon enough.

There are so many ways of making money in this game and even the basic local Data transport missions are plentiful and a start, those which the Sidey certainly can do especially with a basic and cheap upgrade to its FSD Drive.
