So, the UL is a tool to find planets with Settlements, and each settlement has his own sound that activates the UL.
Have you tried doing it with the UL alone? I mean, perhaps it works even without UA and UP?

OK the beam from MEL 22 SECTOR ZU-P C5-1 4A is either pointing at the wreck in this system or somewhere in struve's lost sector which is up in the plane from the site.

Woah woah woah. Hold ya horses there buddy. Im all up for it making it easier to find these things. BUT It does not make sense. In my eyes at least. Because how does it define what to point at? the closest one? And the question is. Why. It gives us octal cool. It now points to bases. But. Its called a LINK. Unless less its like a g transmitter for an alien giant mothership lol
This does give me an idea... how about spacing 3 out at once to better triangulate? I've not got 3 on me, but could be an idea to do that in systems where we're looking for the 3rd site.

THE UL WORKS ON HIS OWN THEN, NO NEED TO CARRY UA AND UP TO ACTIVATE IT.
Maybe that's determined by the audio files you get from the starmap?
That'd mean for the two active sites we have there should be 6 others were the link can lead (assuming it doesn't point to it's origin).

I can confirm that the UL points to the Large Wreck in the system. I tried it with a friend one side of the moon in the Mel 22 Sector system, then supercruised to the other side of the moon and tried it again - it reoriented itself and its pointer to the moon. I'm on Xbox so it'll take a bit for the screenshots and videos to upload, but there we have it. It's a Large Wreck Locator.
HOWEVER! How does this even begin to be useful if you need to play the sound from the wreck in the system to activate it? I mean, that means you've already found the wreck in the system, so why would you need it pointing out again?
ALSO! The Unknown items don't need to have gone through the machine first, Dreamstate says the UL works on its own, but before we knew this, I tried with a free floating UA to go with my UL and UP, and got it to point.
