Yeah and it's only going to get more hectic in the coming weeks and months

I can confirm that the UL points to the Large Wreck in the system. I tried it with a friend one side of the moon in the Mel 22 Sector system, then supercruised to the other side of the moon and tried it again - it reoriented itself and its pointer to the moon. I'm on Xbox so it'll take a bit for the screenshots and videos to upload, but there we have it. It's a Large Wreck Locator.
HOWEVER! How does this even begin to be useful if you need to play the sound from the wreck in the system to activate it? I mean, that means you've already found the wreck in the system, so why would you need it pointing out again?
Now this is a FACT, my dear Dreamstate, my young Scientist Padawan, and how true sciencing is done.
You made an amazing work here, take the honours you deserve.
THE UL WORKS ON HIS OWN THEN, NO NEED TO CARRY UA AND UP TO ACTIVATE IT.
THIS ! There must be more.
Great work!
Two questions:
Does the beam affect the wreck site while it is active?
Has the machine in the center to be activated, while the beam is active?
o7 CMDRs
Hang on.
So the UL will do a laser to the site of the structure/ship the audio is played for it. If it is in the wrong system, you get some information to triangulate where to go in the octal? Based off Merope?

ALSO! The Unknown items don't need to have gone through the machine first, Dreamstate says the UL works on its own, but before we knew this, I tried with a free floating UA to go with my UL and UP, and got it to point.
Hang on.

best fit for me :
mel 22 sector NX-U D2-31 :
reference :
18/125
0.14 125.43 31/1000
0.03 27 945/1000
0.95 823.11
target calculated distances :
125.64
27.15
823.34
next step would be repeating this in wing with wingmate sitting in the Nav-Room to look if something happens thereWoderful!
So, the UL is a tool to find planets with Settlements, and each settlement has his own sound that activates the UL.
Have you tried doing it with the UL alone? I mean, perhaps it works even without UA and UP?
What audio? Where do you get it from?
I'm confused. So to use the UL to locate the base, you need to have the signal from that base?
That wont work because you would be in a different instance
The Unknown Signal you get when you scan the Unknown Device with the correct UL/UP/UA combo
Well perhaps one of those signals might yield a wreck 'the like of which we have never seen before' (or since yesterday) that we'd normally have no hope of finding![]()
The only way it would be useful is if you can play any of the signals to it, and have it point to the wreck. We need to try this in the other 2 candidate systems from the UL chirruping.
