No point, something like this is impossible with the p2p architecture of the game. Shared player instances are only so large.next step would be repeating this in wing with wingmate sitting in the Nav-Room to look if something happens there![]()

Ok this seems old news but can confirm once UL has gone through the unknown device and has been calibrated it does indeed point.
Guess this lays to rest any doubts about that map being our galaxy.
ALmost at a proof positive stage now for it being a beacon system for thargs to find their bases......which used to be crashed motherships probably immediately post war.
Is all of this a really alien distress call by the goids to other goids?
I'm confused. So to use the UL to locate the base, you need to have the signal from that base?
Perhabs it can resurrect the inactive wreck sites...?Food For Thought!
People talking about putting the UL in orbit made me realize.
The Link looks like a satellite. It "beams" down information to the sites. And im gonna agree with other people. Put the UL in orbit (in the same instance) then activate it. have someone on the planet 1 inside the place and 1 outside.
Also worth noting none of the signals from HIP 14909 work in HIP 14909. There's every possibility you can get more signals out of different sites.
...
But my UP got stolen :'(
So we tried it in Mel 22 also, the UL points directly to the wreckage, activated by the HIP 14909 Signal. If the Unknown Link is a transmitter or something, it's not necessary to transmit the Signal of an Unknown Device of one Wreckage to the same wreckage site again. The HIP Signal is used in the Mel 22 Sector and vice versa the Mel 22 Signal in HIP. If this theory is correct, we can find the last wreckage with one of the Signals of Mel 22 and HIP 14909.
Your point makes perfect sense. It's like a sign in the middle of nowhere saying: "YOU ARE HERE"...![]()
But I'm sure there's more...![]()

Except, the Mel 22 signal also works in Mel 22.
