Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 10 - The Canonn

I love how people assume that everyone uses eddb, which needs edmc to populate, which I and many, many others wouldn't touch with a barge pole. And there couldn't possibly be any other systems in the game :D

I use edmc and eddb on a regular basis, the more contriubting to it, the more accurate the information is. Freeloaders. Those other sites are just not as good.

I was in open. I have never played solo before but now it seems too dangerous to play and discover secrets with other players when someone is just waiting till the player is out of the ship without possibility to defend it.

Apply to Mobius PvE if you haven't already. If some player kills you there without your express consent, there are consequences. It's for players who like to cooperate with each other.

Apologies.... I'm only caught up to page 257...

Random but possibly long-term in-play thoughts:

1. That message from the past and I can't recall the link... "one small step, leap, tragedy follows"... thing... Sol... Earth's moon. Going to come into this?

2. New Thargoid wrecks... The space whale thing boggles the mind atm. BUT, what if the little scavengers are actually harvesting AND repairing the main body? As in our knowledge of many creatures on Earth that can loose an appendage and regrow it. What if these bio-mechanical entities can willingly remove parts of themselves to escape? I propose that the scavengers are taking parts of the 'wreck' and using them to heal the main body in a way to allow it to launch or become active again. We are seeing various stages of this process at each site. Think humans and 'skin grafting'.

3. I always thought the prior alien ship wrecks were 'alive'. The scans, the sounds, I never thought they came solely from the UA's strewn about the ground. Those entities are alive and talking. The sounds are all similar to barnacles, which I contend are not human-placed, exploited, yes but not of our making.

4. The colors of all these aliens entities AND the Guardians are of the blue/green hues. They are one and the same in origin, whether bio-engineered or not by the Guardians. The green gaseous exhaust.... BUT what of the yellow from the flower ships? I will contend these flower ships are the OTHER faction.

5. The spectrograph..... I propose that the orbs with grid lines are the SAME body. The probes originated from that point and it is shown at the other end of the image as the return of the data.... not from A to B but from A and back to A.

Mind running off at a fast pace, sorry if I've repeated other's proposals.

Seriously peeved I have to go to a real job in the US and not be at home in the UK like some of you lucky fools. Onward!

Well, EDDiscovery also sends data to EDDN (which is where EDDB gets its body data from).

Either way though, as you note it'd be very lucky indeed for the data to be present in EDDB - it'd require every body in the system to have been actively scanned by someone using EDDiscovery or similar.
Considering that Mel 22 Sector NX-U d2-31 (the system itself) wasn't even in EDSM until a few hours ago... :D

Also assuming you allow EDDiscovery to send the data :) But I take your point and as always my good man.

Oh and as I haven't said yet a massive congratulations on the Sag A* time [up]

So again, since there still seems to be some confusion how this works:

-Lets Say you go to a Site. Lets call it Site A
-You Activate the Device with your UP, UA and UL
-You get 3 Messages Back.
-Each Message represents a different System
-You go into Space and play your UL one of the Messages.
-You get an Answer in the Narrow Beam that contains the Coordinates for a new site. Take note of what Message you used.
-You decipher that Message using the Post on the First Page
-You go to your new System
-You play the Message to your UL again
-Your UL will now Point to the Site in the System!

Im guessing at the End there should be a Total amount of Sites of a Multiple of 3. (If all Sites give 3 Messages that is.)

Ok so for those of us that are thick, how are new bases/motherships/crashes/whatever actually being found now, from start to finish?

edit - what that guy said

Of course i know the limitations of eddb. But it has a really huge database with currently over 10 Mio Systems.

I use edmc and eddb on a regular basis, the more contriubting to it, the more accurate the information is. Freeloader. Those other sites are just not as good.

My point being, you cannot use it as a definitive answer, or justification for proving/disproving anything. It's like people who try to use INARA (which by the way is far too close to INRA for my liking :p) for similar purposes. There are plenty of Cmdrs who don't use them.

*Edit* actually, are you calling me a freeloader Unbreakable?
