Selling data - still tedious

As title, this really, really needs improving (for 2.4). IU cannot believe I've sold half a billion (total) credits worth of data this way.

e.g.
Dock, patch into UC, 30 second upload with progress bar, review everything you just sold. Takes a minute or two. Data can be reviewed at any time with tabs detailing recent/all transactions.

This constant wait, wait, stand by, congratulations, 50+ iterations of usually small bonuses half hidden behind the spinning stand by icon, multiplied by however many pages (or in the case of this trip I've just made 60+) just does not cut it

I totally agree. They surely must have gotten the servers stable enough to allow us to sell bigger chunks by now.
some of the UI functions could use a makeover. Other things that comes to my mind is the incredibly tedious process of buying Power Play commodities. The lack of manual entry boxes on the commodities market. Filters on bookmarks, modules and such.

Small bonuses? I must not be doing your flavor of exploring. Those bonuses are for newly discovered bodies, and are 50% of the bodies value. All told, that ends up being about 30% of my total payout.

Don't know why it takes a while, but when you sell is when they determine if you are the discoverer. If so, that body gets your tag and you get the discoverers bonus.

You do know if you click on the bonus message (okay or something like that) that it bypasses all the bonus-by-bonus citations?

I'm not quite understanding the rationale/purpose of this complaint. I've been exploring quite a while and actually look forward to the universal cartographic's information screen on handing in exploration data after long trips out.
Must just be me.

It's not only you
The experience of seeing the results from the trip make it really worth than at the end. If i wouldn't like it, i would just self-destruct on my destination :D

Day 3 - I might just get a chance to fly my ship today!

I think that's when it becomes intolerable ^^ when your whole gaming session is selling data - its not enjoyable or engaging, the only plus side is it speeds up when you get near the end of the pages :)

A lot here have done the Beagle Point trip too. I was on DW3302 and agreed it was a long session handing in data but as I've alluded to it was also good to see what bodies have your unique stamp on them as well.
Horses for courses and all that. Have to disagree with OP. But he's entitled to his opinion.

Not just you. Granted it was only 380 million, so it only took an hour or so to sell it. All in all tho, rather enjoyed it myself.

On the other hand, I've probably scanned dozens of asteroid belts on my current expedition and am eagerly awaiting seeing all those 0 credit values roll by. [money]

I mean, I've scanned this sort of stuff too, but you can take it or leave it...

I can fully appreciate people enjoying the experience, horses for courses, but after selling 20,000 systems worth of data and travelling 650,000Ly since premium beta the 'experience' (of selling) has hardly moved on [up]

Like much in the exploration sphere it needs some love from FD.

I'm with you there, Cdr Voorheez. But, I have on occasion run into the server crash when trying to log a LOT of cartography. That does need fixed.

It's the fact that it's such a long and slow and manual process. I don't mind if it takes 4 hours, so long as I don't have to sit there doing the clicking for those 4 hours.

Surely, there is a way to automate it, so it can be done in small chunks in the background, and not upset or crash anything. Then, at the end, there is a highlight screen giving you access to the information you may be interested in (first discoveries, ELW's, TFC's, WW's etc...

I'm willing to bet some of the hard core crowd with 2-3m+ LY are often choosing to stay out rather than come back and start selling!

Pretty much this - I'm at about 900000LY, and 30k systems. Let's just say I'm over it...

Don't mind the process - my longest so far is a Sag A* run, so only a few hundred million Cr. - but it'd be nice to have a better UI for this, and keeping track of what I've discovered in game.

A tab on one of the hud panels listing the bodies I discovered first, link to Gal Map etc.
