It's Motherships... rather than thargoid bases.

We'd best destroy all their toilets so they will be forced to return home in shame.

Ah crap. They obviously must be German Thargoids. Spargel season just passed though. No wonder they seek ammonia worlds with large airy public lavs.

We are doomed again I tell ya!

(seriously, Spargel, while darned good with schinken... One should stay away from public toilets. - Never ever-ever- forget this advice.)
+1... Good thing ammonia worlds cant grow trees or paper.

When I first arrived at the site it was clear for me that I`m looking at crashed, buried mega ship rather than surface structure. Maybe by triggering the central chamber holomap we will make them fly again. (reminds me strongly of Prometheus movie).

Just saying...

Based on a few hours reconnaissance in VR, (it's spectacular how different the "bases" look in 3D).

I'm pretty sure the new Thargoid mega structures are in fact motherships.

It becomes clearer when you visit the most recently found one today which is most complete.

Having landed an Anaconda in the central region to get scale, the ships would appear to be in the region of 10km in diameter.

You think these mother ships are damaged?

So... should FD hire people to play the game as Thargoids, that way every Thargoid encounter is fresh and new?

(As an aside, it would be funny to see Thargoids camping outside of stations, waiting to gank people).

No no no, they should be actual Thargoids.

That would mean the map room is really a navigation chamber.

I would agree with the earlier post that they seem to be teraformers. They are certainly pumping some sort of gas out here and there. Also was at one last night and suddenly thought " What is this murk ? Bloody hell its a atmosphere! "
Left alone long enough I'm sure there will be some new ammonia worlds appearing. Wish we had something similar :) hope Canon can get some of those scavengers If they are alive they are the first aliens we have seen :)

I'm still fairly confident that these are simply the Thargoid versions of surface installations, just as the Scavengers are Thargoid Skimmers. It makes the most sense from a game design perspective.

TBH I'm fairly sure they are ships myself, infact i thought they were quite obviously ships from the start, i thought FD made them ships not caves lol.

Since it's buried into the planet, once they mature, we'll now have planets roaming here and about, smashing into other worlds like an 8 ball on a pool table.

We're all doomed.
